Yes. Similar things have happened to me on numerous occasions.

Yes. Most, if not all, apps you've downloaded have asked permission to take in audio and you agreed

Lol.

We are talking about the govt, nsa, CIA, etc here. You giving your apps has nothing to do with this.

They've been listening for almost 20 years. Anyone that thinks otherwise is fooling themselves.

I use a paid VPN but still think big bro gets through it. Government gets to learn about mole removal, health risks of bolt on’s for the nephro mrs, and top 10 pho joints within any given geo.

Key words are flagged.

Go call your wife for the next month and tell her how you're going to kill the president, blow up some federal buildings, suicide bomb a chemical plant, and see if you're not touched by them.

We have google and twitter monitoring the simplest of 'hate' speech. You dont think the govt is going 6 steps further?

A VPN isn’t going to stop your phone from listening to you and/or sending data via the internet. That’s simply not what a VPN is for.

That’s not practical

Give me a better solution

You can turn off the always-listening capabilities on your phones (whether it’s “hey Siri” on iPhones or “OK google” on phones that run android).

Whether one believes the devices will still actively listen after doing so is another matter, but that is technically how you stop your phone from listening to you.

Was looking through the files on my phone one evening not long ago and noticed a strange folder. I think it was g00gl voice or something similar. There were 1000s of audio files from the last few years, so I decided to listen to some them. Yep, every conversation (mine, others near my phone, tv, radio, etc.) from the past is there. Everything is recorded... everything.

As a countermeasure when not in use... my phone gets turned off, placed in a triple-layered heavy foil pouch, put inside a cardboard lined metal (playing card) box, placed inside another cardboard lined old school kids metal lunchbox. Basically a 5-layer faraday cage.

FU Uncle Sam... I'm getting my privacy back.

We're gonna need to see the before and after pics, same as the government.

Of the people, by the people, for the people.

ETA: Also, you're gonna want to go ahead and get the best divorce lawyer in town on retainer now. You want to be a step ahead of her when she starts fricking some other dude and tries to take your kids and your house.

Happens all the time. Me and my wife were discussing a trip to Paris a while back. I have never searched or looked into anything because I've always been scared to see what a couple weeks would cost. About 15 mins later, I start scrolling through TD and start getting served ads for Paris vacation packages.

This is the most recent one I can remember but it has happened a couple other times where I actually noticed it.

How do I do that? I don't have an Apple. It's a pixel3 or something.
