HOA is literally the worst

Unless you live in a shite neighborhood or a townhouse community, HOA's generally are only "the worst" to lazy people who let their house look like shite or run down because "no ones going to tell me what to do on my property"

I like my neighbors. I like my very nice cookie cutter house. I like the covenants that keep alphas like yourself from trashing up the area.

Sorry you can't afford a better hood.

I agree. It boggles my mind when people move into an HOA neighborhood bc of how nice everything is and then proceed to break all the rules they agreed to follow and attempt to frick up what they thought was so nice in the first place. If you don't want to move into a nice HOA neighborhood, don't. It's really just that simple.

I live in a neighborhood but it is not cookie cutter and we live here mainly because the public schools are awesome.

Meh, it's better than a lot of rural areas in the state where I see a few nice houses them trailers and yards with broken down rusted cars next door.
Fck living anywhere near a trashy bitch.

Does it hurt to be stupid? I've always wondered if people of your mental aptitude get headaches or experience pain when thinking about complex ideas.

What boggles my mind is that people around here do not grasp what an alpha is, yet they continue to throw the term around. (not saying this to you, just in general)

If that's the way someone wants to live, more power to 'em. But I can't see paying $400k and up for a house with literally no yard, and a stunning view of your neighbor's brick wall out your kitchen window.

The best kind of neighbors are the ones too far away to see. Rural life FTW.

Yep. The people that complain about HOA rules are the reason for HOA rules.

Don't move into a shitty arse Homeowner's Association neighborhood and you won't have that problem.

I love my HOA, keeps the truck nuts and salt life trash out, but we don't have as much since we aren't in trashy south Louisiana

The problem with building in a " rural area" is that zoning is weak or nonexistent. You face a very real chance of living next to a trailer park or junkyard or worse.

St Tammany has attempted to address this, only about 20 years too late.

The fact that you think that is the definition of "neighborhood" is what's beta.

Meh..... You can keep the rural life.... I can go the rest of my existence without ever having a 'yard' to mow and I'll be perfectly content.

I remember reading a stat that most people that sacrifice with a longer commute and spend more money for a backyard in the suburbs spend less than 30 minutes a week enjoying their yard.

Being rural isn't without its issues. Several years back some dirtbag had moved down the road from my folks and commenced to running some motor/truck/diesel shop which inevitably involved cranking and winding out engines at all hours of the day. Folks are on about 20 acres and the dirtbag shop was about a quarter mile away, but was still loud enough to be disruptive when outside cooking or boiling. I got it taken care of but took a couple years. So there's pros/cons of everything.

If you weren't so poor you could buy your own land and build what you want on it.

I am moving to madisonville from mandeville. Got tired of renters in my hood and moving out. I don't really talk to my neighbors cause most are drama queens. House won't be fully custom but not cookie cutter either. My dad has acres of land and it's not me. Would rather a small yard with less work needed to maintain it. Yes I will be paying Hoa fees.

You buy land and let someone tell you what you can and can't build. You buy a crappy house built by a builder that doesn't give a shite other than getting your $ and rolling out. Your house looks just like every other one in the neighborhood/area.

Congrats betas
