I drove around looking for firewood on Tuesday without success. Yeah, I know, I should have gotten it earlier.

Gas logs seem like a good option at this point. Anybody else got them? I would need a plumber to reconfigure the gas line, I guess.

If you want them, why do you care what other people think?

I hate them but I can't ignore the convenience. A gas line in a wood burning fireplace is the best option and what I have now. Don't have to buy starter logs anymore.

Worrying about what others think when it doesn't directly affect them is trashy

Are trash logs gassy?

People have questions.

No. They are a good decision for people who have better things to do than chop, buy, stack, and retrieve firewood.

I prefer the smell of a real fire, but it's like riding a horse versus driving a car.

No, actually pretty clean….

Our old house had a wood burning fireplace, loved the smell, popping and the glow of coals, but hated cleaning it. New house has a gas fire place, flipping a switch on and off is pretty convenient.

I initially read this as “are gas dogs trashy” and came in with questions. But I follow what the thread means now.

My compromise when I move will be to retrofit the wood fireplace with gas logs and get my love for the smell of burning wood from my patio firepit.

I enjoyed our gas fireplace growing up. It heated the brick surrounding which radiated to room,

I had the options of rebuilding my fire box for about $6,000 or converting to a gas fireplace with ceramic logs for $1500, I went with the latter, so yes trashy and also poor.

I use my wood stove all winter and never let my heater kick on. I cut, split and stack all my firewood. I already have all my firewood put up to dry for next fall.

I guess if I didn't live in the sticks and couldn't easily cut my own wood, gas would be ok.

No.

Why would you GAF about what keeps the room you are in warm?

Looking for wood Jan. 22nd? Why even have a fire place? Winter in South is past 1/2 over.

Best thing ever. Ours has a blower fan to push hot air even further into the room. We can heat that entire floor with just the fireplace.

I have them and like them. They provide good heat and I can turn them on and off whenever I want.
