A friend of my parents passed (related to cancer, not corona). Nobody in their set of friends will be attending the service.

We had one today for my Grandmother. Only immediate family. Catholic service with mass and burial. Father said this was his last mass until the all clear.

We have one tomorrow for my Father in law. No mass. Just immediate family are going to put him in a tomb. He was cremated.

I assume they are doing small, close family only. Or are people putting off services?

Family only with Live-streaming for many services.

I've left instructions that when I die I am to be given a Viking funeral.
Of course, I wrote those instructions 15 years ago, long before corona, but I think it is an even better option nowadays.

I attended my first cousin's funeral yesterday. She was 64 and the youngest in her family. Her brother and two sisters did not attend. A total of about 20 people were in attendance. Her 2 daughters and their husband and boy friend. A few people I didn't know and a hand full of cousins. I can understand the fear but I felt bad for the two daughters standing there and no people to offer them comfort. They said they understood but it left me feeling empty and sad. This new reality can bite it.

My dad's funeral was to be tomorrow. Instead we're holding off and will have a celebration to his life at a later time. Things are so unreal.

In today's Shreveport obits:

-three funerals set for Friday

-A MEMORIAL CELEBRATION OF JOHN’S LIFE WILL BE HELD AT A LATER DATE.

-the family would like to extend a special thanks to all who would like to attend services but are unable. A memorial service for Shirley will be planned in the near future.

Earlier this week, there was one that said due to Covid-19, we're skipping the funeralizing at this time.
