one of my oldest childhood friends is a female doctor. she prescribed me benzos that helped me get through a personal crisis, for which I'm eternally grateful. All she said was "don't overdo it."

Oddly enough, some of our better nurses have been male.

Not odd. Better personalities.

No because women can’t drive for sh!t. They freeze up and just stop.
During surgery I want a man in charge

There isn’t a one size fits all best doctor for each patient. Some people want the overt empathy and handholding. Some want just the facts delivered professionally. Most are somewhere in between.

I don’t care if my doctor is a dick. I want him to be smart. Guess who doesn’t get DEI special points? Yeah. I’m going with the white male doctor unless I know the female white doctor and can positively know she is smart. Bedside manner is not what is going to fix what is wrong.

I always ask my a new doctor, what is a man and whats a woman. If they can't tell the difference, that is not a health care provider I want working on me. If they don't know basic biology then you are fricked.

I have a shitload of doctors and only one of them has been female. I will say she was far more detail oriented then the males….and was quite a bit better at communicating than them as well. Trouble was she went out on maternity leave and her whole practice just went to shite. I couldn’t get a script refilled for meds that I absolutely have to have. Honestly, I should have reported the office to whatever board governs such activity.

I eventually just had to find another doctor to fill her role.

Some of the males have been downright dicks and act like we are a box to check before moving onto the next patient.

With specialists, I’ve absolutely noticed this.

I had a female Pakistani doc as my PCP for a decade, that treated me for blood clots. In late 2020, when I asked her for a vaccine waiver because of blood clots being a risk factor, she said she couldn't.

Because the hospital systems that they are affiliated with rule all.

I recently went with my 83 year old father to the doctor for a physical. His former doctor retired, so he had a new doctor ( a male). We had some serious questions about my dad’s weight loss over the years (from 205 lbs to 125lbs). He is diabetic and his medications kill his appetite. I asked him what he would suggest to help him gain weight. He said he would make recommendations after he saw his blood test. Two weeks later, he never commented on his bloodwork. He said he would call us, he never did and won’t respond to us on my chart. I don’t care how good a doctor he is, if he won’t follow up with you, he sucks.

I have a mixture of both male and female doctors. My female doctors usually keep the schedule moving and or for the most part on time. My male gp on the other hand, in spite of owning a collection of Rolex watches, is at least an hour behind all day.
