Sure, but the issue is that not everyone processes that the same. The prefrontal cortex is the primary driver of risk analysis and long term planning. It isn’t fully developed until roughly the age of 25 in the average person. Further, we are starting to see indications that early childhood trauma can permanently stunt prefrontal cortex development.

No. The one I'll talk about with the harshest punishment was a 6'7" white guy who was a massive fan of rap music and urban culture as he found his natural calling in basketball early on. By his teens, he had participated in armed robbery and other crimes but lived away in a rural area growing up and was able to avoid trouble.. it caught up with him though, so when he moved to Baton Rouge in 2001 it wasnt surprising to me that he was arrested for murder shortly after. He's doing life with no chance of parole.
Sent me a letter from Angola in 2005, telling me to never frick up and end up there. Painted a horrible picture of how reality is there. I would compare it to if someone died and and went to hell, if they had a chance to describe it on paper.

Drugs have leveled the playing field. I knew a lot of really good people who were poor when I was young. Poverty does not make you a criminal, environment and drugs can make a good person go bad in a heartbeat. The biggest thing that we can do to fix this national problem is to get the bad drugs out.

Neither are born that way. Their environment can lead them towards being either. Some people may have a bad environment from childhood and they grow up thinking they were "born" that way.

Yes and no. There are twin studies done where there’s a nature vs nurture. Sometimes children will still exhibit habits from their parents that they’ve been separated from. Other times they are taught better and so not have those habits.

I know people who come from dirt poor origins with bad influence all around them and they grew up to be successful law abiding citizens and known people in upper middle class/ upper class homes that are in jail today. At some point an individual becomes conscious and has to make a decision what type of person they will become, it is that simple.

NO, I don’t think anyone is born with a hopeless and inescapable predisposition to anything. I think lots of factors contribute to criminal activity, violence, or destructive behaviors, not the least of which is the way kids are raised. I think we are all born with a little devil inside us so to speak, but it’s in being taught and learning how to control ourselves, being loved, being disciplined, having positive role models that shape us. Those are the things that cause us to get on either a positive path toward success in life or a destructive one to failure in life.

Of course genetics plays a role. Having a Y chromosome makes you more prone to violent crime. Having 2 Y chromosomes makes you even more likely to be a criminal.
