Do you want your DNA in a data base? Not me.

Don't worry, it's already in a database.

It would be surprising.

I used to buy into it. The more you research, the shadier it begins to look.
A telling example is the one of identical twins who sent in their spit and got different results.

Former scientists who worked at Ancestry and 23andme have cone out and said it's largely guesswork.

This article might put things in perspective.

quote:

Ball told me it had a lot to do with estimates. "This is not a diagnostic test," Ball said. Instead, the results come out based on statistics and all the reference population my DNA is being compared to. "We try to be really transparent about how this is an estimate." For example, the range on my Finnish results was zero to 4%

Yeah, it’s not the person that fricked up who is at fault, it’s the one who pointed it out.

It told me that my family once owned slaves. I’m currently planning my suicide because of this. I apologize to all African Americans.

Why get new family? I don’t even like the family I have now

What if they aren't really your family? Give your dad a kit for father's day, then wait a few months and send in your sample and see if y'all match.

I don’t like half of the dumb asses in my family that I know. Why would I want to find more? Can’t anything good come from it

Tons of people want to brag they have Native American ancestors for some reason, makes them feel special I guess.Know several people that claimed that, did dna test and had none, takes the wind out of their sails.

Did Ancestory.com a year ago and found out my father had a son he never knew about.

This week a friend posted on Facebook that he discovered a long lost sister. It's pretty cool.

Genetics are pretty cool.

My mother posted on Facebook a picture of me and my cousin Scott...and we look like twins. RIP Scott

ETA: and I don't need a chip placed in my body either. Ain't gonna happen.

I did one earlier this year. Ended up confirming some suspicions that my family had about my mom’s father by linking me to the son of the man that was thought to be her dad.
