One thing I've found funny about this entire situation is that people on here have begun wearing the term "essential" as a badge of honor, like it is some esteemed club. I'm grateful to every single person who is still reporting to work and helping keep society running, but maybe tone it down with the odd ego boost on having the word "essential" thrown your way.

This wasn't at all directed at you, TDecline, just a general observation.

That was kind of my point. But I was trying to say it without saying it.

Or its that it is more typical of someone with a degree such as, English literature, art, music, etc.. to bitch, moan, and complain ab not being able to pay off student loans bc they can't find a high paying job. Hobbies don't pay well.

my point went right over your head, cleetus

All good. I’m more making fun of myself being categorized as “essential” more than anything else. About 90% of my day has been zoom meetings and 75% of our office is working remotely in their pajamas so there’s not much essential about it. I am incredibly thankful that I’ve been lucky enough to maintain employment throughout this as I know a lot of really good people haven’t been as lucky. Just an opportunity to give a little jab back to the baws on here that constantly throw their cash into us 50ker’s faces constantly. Don’t worry baws, whenever you’re all hired back you’ll still make more than I will by the end of the year.

Hell I'm being forced to work overtime during all of this. I guess my little ole associates degree is paying off.
I'm not being forced to work overtime, and I'm not in a situation where I will lose my job, either. Guess my little ole masters degree is paying off, too

The "baws" I deal with at work respect the engineering and scientist folks.

They hate liberal arts type ppl.

TBH I respect a skilled tradesman over liberal arts degree any day.

The definition of "liberal arts" has been bastardized in common parlance over the last few years. A classical liberal arts education includes subjects like chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics, and statistics. From the classical trivium to the middle age quadrivium to the modern core of humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and formal sciences the liberal arts education has required a very wide breadth of subjects. Identifying a degree in a single humanities or social science subject as a "liberal arts" degree is erroneous and lazy.

I had got laid off years back and got a "baw" job. I heard at least one co-worker was going around mentioning it when talking shite.

That place was full of backstabbing. Glad I got out.
