Year 7 on my Costco tree goes up in a couple weeks.

When I replace it, I may go Balsam Hill for a Flip tree but think they’re pricey for what they are.

I will only buy prelit. Would not be hard to add lights (in particularly ws2811 pixels run by a WLED controller) after.

I bought a pre-lit tree from the Home Depot when it was on sale after Christmas. It is on its fifth Christmas and still works and looks great.

Yep. Going on 8 years, it was expensive but it looks great and 8 trees would have been way more.

They are worth buying if you actually spend some money on them and don’t try to go cheap. This will be our 3rd year with one, and the kids love it. We aren’t trying to rush out the weekend after Thanksgiving to find one so we can start decorating.

We will still visit one of the tree farms for Christmas pics so we can still have the fun that came with picking a tree, I just don’t have to strap it to the hood and watch it bounce as we drive the causeway.

We got a balsam hill unlit tree last year.

I grew up with a live tree and was adamant about having one. We finally hit the bullet when the live tree was $100 for a 6-7’ Fraser fir. I bought one from balsam hill on sale in January for $300, and it looks fantastic. My concern was the Christmas tree smell, but with a candle lit and the fireplace I can’t tell a difference.

I’m still slightly bummed not having a real tree from the nostaligic standpoint, but the fake tree has FAR exceeded my expectations.

What convinced me to get an artificial one was burning my natural tree one year. Took it to the woodpile lit a match and 10 seconds later there was an inferno. I said “nope, never again.”
I used to be very anti-fake tree until I saw a few videos of live trees turning entire rooms into instant infernos back when I still had young kids in the house. Made the switch back then but do miss the tradition of going out and getting a tree.

Just wait until after Christmas to pick one up. Day after they drop to half price.

I picked up a 400 dollar one from Lowe’s for 75% off last year after Xmas.

I had a real one for years just for the smell. The smell is Xmas to me. But like everyone else, they started getting insane on prices.

My dad bought one of these. Looked like our house for a second.

Anyway, he had this spotlight lamp with a revolving colored wheel of red, green, blue and yellow on the floor lighting up the tree in the window.

Dad was pretty pleased with himself.

When I was a kid my folks had one of those with the tri-color wheel projector pointed at it. I wouldn't use one now but back then I thought it was pretty cool

I love real trees but got tired of mine dying early even after doing everything right, I’ve had my 10 foot artificial tree for three years now so it’s paid itself off now

Michael's actually has a big sale going right now for artificial Christmas trees.

Michael's - Christmas Tree Sale

I have no idea how legit the regular prices are compared to the sales price and it could be a situation like Jos A Banks where the regular price is inflated so you think you are getting a great deal with the sales price, but I took a chance on a $400 tree marked down to $150.

The way I view it is I was spending $150, annually, on a real tree, anyway, so if it doesn't work out, no real money lost.
