This seems dangerous to put into law.

What’s keeping companies from perverting this and finding ways to call their regular employees “athletes” to avoid taxes?

frick that. They don’t deserve exemption from taxes. They’re not providing a service to the state. They’re playing football for much more money than most of the people watching make

If there isn't a lawsuit to stop states from doing this, then it's our fault as a society.

Poor state, small tax base and this is the priority. Tax NIL and build some campus housing, parking, etc.

If anyone deserves to be paying income taxes it’s sportsball players.

This is insane. But a college student working their way through college on a minimum wage job has to pay taxes.

Unbelievable. She’s officially no better than her colleagues. Just like most politicians, college sports has become a debacle. But people keep supporting this blatant greed & corruption.

exempting NIL dollars from state income taxes

They should be taxed double and anyone with under 18 year old dependents living in their house full time get tax breaks.

The NCAA is a fricking joke. They allowed NIL to get out of hand and now they are turning to the federal government to try to govern this shite show they created. Its like any other non profit. It rakes in 100s of millions of dollars a year. And unless its something that is out in the public, they only go after the schools they want to go after.. But now that giving players money isn't against the rules, they really don't have much to do.

Lot of anger here and I agree, but they still owe federal income tax. This only impacts 4 percent rate (approximate)

That bill needs to pass if LSU football is interested in competing in the SEC.

This is the new reality, folks.
