Considering it has no annual fee and anyone can get it, I'm not sure why anyone is using the turn of phrase "status symbol". With that said, there's very little reason to get this over a Citi Double Cash card, but hey, to each his own.

I like the Amazon Prime card better, my apple card already has a black stripe across the front from where it sits in my leather wallet.
I really like the tracking aspects of the Apple card. wish it gave better rewards, I would use it more.

Because it's Apple and people blindly consume whatever they come up with.
The Average person doesn't know what a Citi Double Cash is. Just based on design if you give them the following options they're going to choose the Apple Card.

It's just a credit card. It has no fees and barely any rewards percentage. It has some security features where you don't have a number on the card, but you can get a number from your phone if you want to use it online. Has some interesting tracking features. It's just another way to keep people in the Apple ecosystem.

Might get scratched? What the hell? Putting in anything will scratch it. Why bother when amex, visa, discover and others are available.

The only 30% back is little cizars
5 guys is 20% hotels are 15% airbnb 5% and a lot of restaurants are 10%. It could be because I also bank with chase because I get the same offers for my debit card.
