OP is a dummy.
Didn’t happen to me.

That's my point. My attendance had no effect on my learning if I was able to earn an A average on the assignments.
This used to piss me off, too. I worked full time. If I can get an A or B without going to class consistently then don't punish me for it. This is college, not grade school. Attendance policies are nanny bullshite.

I remember one one I got an F because I didn’t abide by the stupid “Test Taking” policy my dum teacher had.

And yet, despite making excellent grades on assignments, the OP decided not to protect the A by merely walking in the door. Attendance may be nanny bullshite but it's the easiest part of the syllabus to satisfy.

Yep. Blows my mind. I don't think I could ever go back to sitting around for 8-9 hours per day staring at bullshite on the internet because someone wants me in a chair for some arbitrary amount of hours.
One time I was on a project and we worked 7-12s for over 3 months then went to 6-12s for awhile, maybe 8 months then 5-12s and 1-5 for awhile and then 5-12s for awhile. I had to wait for other people to finish their job before I could do mine so it was a lot of down time. I think there was a point where I was actually going crazy.
That's when I use to A LOT on here. There were days when I would go into work (6AM) and 1.5 hrs later my work for the day was done, but didn't get off until 6PM. So from about 730AM-6:30PM 90% of my time was spent in a cube on the internet. That should be inhumane.

Doesn't LSU use something like Canvas or a online software to record your grades? If so, then why is the F a big shocker? That just means you don't pay attention.
Regardless, if your teacher recorded the attendance later in the semester, I can put in "what if" scores and calculate exactly what my over all grades could be in any circumstance.
Life happens, I get it, but everything is pretty much wrapped up in a bow now a days. With technology, to me, some excuses are not excuses anymore.

Thank jeebus there was no attendance policy when I went to LSU. I couldn't have done it.

Appealing grade in English at LSU
Good strategy. You'll probably have better luck than if you did it in Spanish instead.

Enjoy your failing grade. Be more responsible.

If they paid you 6 figures, you had 4 kids, and you got to play on the OT alot..... how bout then?

Treat this as what you shouldn't do when you actually have to get a real job. Imagine trying to tell your boss that you did a good enough job even though you miss work all the time...

It's not special treatment. I don't disagree with the policy because it applies to me, I disagree with the policy because it's ridiculous.
I think you should be banned from this site for at least two semesters.

I understand that, but in my case I was able to make an A on the assignments without showing up to every class. It seems unintuitive to in turn fail me because of that.
He didn’t just decide to fail you at the end of the semester for whatever reason. He simply abided by the grading system laid out in the syllabus. You’re an idiot

I'm almost positive appealing the grade would be pointless and they wouldn't change it, but it's at least worth a shot. Just curious to see if anyone has had success with this in the past.
First you file the appeal. Then the next step is going to meet face to face with the teacher to work it out. Finally if no agreement (which most likely won't happen). You have to go to the Dean of the College.
Basically, it ain't happening.

Then to top it off they deduct half a letter grade for every absence that is unexcused.
Sounds like you should have switched sections on Day 1. Especially if you had no intent to go to class throughout the semester.

LSU English Dept Link
Apparently, the attendance policy is for all sections at least in 1001 and 2000 according to this link. Since it is a departmental policy, I don’t see the grade being overturned.
Anyone know when this policy started? Seems extreme, but I would have abided by it. Such an easy A... no reason to mess that up.

You agreed to it when you signed up for the class. Grade appeals are if the professor didn’t record the correct grade or something like that.
Don’t bother wasting your time. You have ZERO grounds for appeal.
