I don't recall going over elementary school aged gifts with my friends, because WE WERE CHILDREN. The adults are affected way more than the kids. Stop it, seriously.

ETA: No kids, no care

Maybe the poor parents shouldn't have gotten their degree in Sociology.

My kids during their Santa belief phase didn’t interact with kids whose parents were appreciably more or less well-off than us.

Lucky I guess?

True. I stopped believing my parents were real at age 7 because of it.

There’s a lot of shitty triggered bullshite out there but this is pretty reasonable and anyone who doesn’t agree is being thick.

They aren’t saying don’t buy your kids nice stuff. They are saying don’t make little kids live in a world where they think magic and the spirit of Christmas values a rich kid more.

This is the correct answer. Christmas is out of hand now.

My parents always told me expensive stuff was from them because they didn't want Santa getting the credit.

Nah I just tell my kids Santa gives them nice presents because we’re not poor and that he doesn’t like poor kids as much as he does them.

It sux for kids who didnt ask for crappy parents. My sons friend didnt get a damn thing last year from his family or anyone. My son was upset about that so we got him some gifts from santa, socks, under shirts, Nike slides, some Nike pullovers and some pants. That kid cried like a baby when he opened them. It meant the world to him. He was 16 and hadn't gotten a gift in 4 years. It was my best Christmas in my 42 years to see that smile.

I see the point, but not enough so to actually go along with it.

Santa gives smaller Things. Big things come from
Daddy because he works his arse of for them and he is gonna be the only fat guy getting credit for it

My parents did this. I sniffed out the Santa bullshite early due to this logic but played dumb to keep raking in the good gifts.

This annoys the crap out of me. My family's traditions and choice of celebration are really not anyone else's business. What I tell my kids is our busines and has nothing to do with anyone else.

Okay millennial

It’s actually a well done play on the ok boomer fad going around. Millennials aren’t having many kids because they can’t afford it. The old geezers on the OT should love these types of millennials.

Sad that parenting has now become materialistic.

That parent could teach their child things kids who get everything will never learn.

I told my kids Santa prefers kids whose parents make good choices.

How about parents dont teach their child to place their self worth in the objects they obtain.
