Dry sex doesn’t seem very fun
Wrong. Especially wrong if in school uniform.
Not to excuse the behavior of this priest, but consensual affection with a 17 year old is not on the same level as the terrible abuses of young children that have taken place. Perhaps a one time incident of human weakness. Reprehensible, but not sure that I see any crime. Also, there were girls at Mt. Carmel and other Catholic schools who went to mass at school in the morning and were walking the runway at NOLA Fashion Week that night in fishnet stockings and spiked heels. Could make a priest or any one of you fall to your knees.
"I try not to commit a deliberate sin. I recognize that I'm going to do it anyhow, because I'm human and I'm tempted. And Christ set some almost impossible standards for us. Christ said, 'I tell you that anyone who looks on a woman with lust has in his heart already committed adultery.'
"I've looked on a lot of women with lust. I've committed adultery in my heart many times. This is something that God recognizes I will do--and I have done it--and God forgives me for it."

Dry sex is overrated. Wet is far superior.

Because the Catholic Church does not want to have to support wives and a family in a addition to the priests. It all about the mighty green. Then what happens in a divorce or death? How do they split the assets?
Correct. The priests are supposedly to take an oath to a life of poverty. However that doesn’t seem to be the case lately.
Could you imagine the fraud with a priest who has a family? Look at the mega churches and the other Protestant church leaders…and they still frick their congregation.
It’s just best to differentiate between following the faith of Catholicism, the Methodist faith, Episcopalian, etc, and following the people that run it.

Ohhhh …there is a LOT more to this story…
Go back many many years… my fil is active in his church and friends with the priest…at this point my fil is providing some resources to the church worth millions by using services his company has surplus of… the priest in question above works there also and is involved in marriage counseling… a couple is planning divorce and he steps in to “counsel” the wife… has an affair with her… my fil friend the senior and older priest ( guy above was up and coming new priest ) is made aware of this and reports it to his superiors… well they did not like like… sent the good priest to a small church in nowhere and basically ruined his life… kept the priest that was a “marriage counsel specialist “ in place and here we are later…
My fil pulled his support to the church and the good priest retired and died shortly later…
Catholic Church has some real issues!

If they would just let them get married 99.9% of this would go away. I really don't understand why this continues.
Do you really believe this?

Allowing priests to marry would help alleviate the priest shortage.
I’m not sure it would do much for the shortage. I work with a lot of Catholic you g men and high schoolers many who are open to the priesthood. Marriage is not a reason they discern away from the priesthood - yes many of them do follow the vocation to married life but they don’t not become a priest because they couldn’t marry.
Further, I’m friends with no fewer than 50 priests and close friends with a coup dozen. Privately they will all day they are glad they aren’t married. Once a priest ministers to couples for a while they see how crazy women are.

So from their mouths... what are the reasons?
Also... I wonder if allowing priests to marry would result in more married men becoming priests later in life.

Our deacon just got the axe because a couple of ladies complained about the way he "hugged" them after mass.. This dude is good as gold.

They're really cutting down on their pool of potential priests when part of it is vowing to never have sex. There's a reason so many priests seem a little off
I knew a teacher in high school that was thinking about becoming a priest when he was in college. Well one of the early tests was to send the priest candidates to a strip club in French Quarter and to remind them that this is what they would be missing out on.
Needless to say he dropped out after that test.
