Agree with most on this post. Most of my classes at LSU were a breeze. Even my MS at GSU is a breeze compared to AP. Workload was a lot more considering you went to class 3-5 times a week compared to 1-2.

College is becoming easier to keep more students enrolled and keep the bank truck on campus IMO.

Didn't have AP classes when I was in high school so I don't have any first hand knowledge. My son however is a senior and has taken 4 AP classes as a junior and a senior. He spends a frick ton of time in the books, way more than I did as a freshman in college. If it has done one thing it has given him study habits I never thought of having entering college.

On average probably on par. My physics and calculus were beasts but English wasn't bad

Maybe if you go to a shitty school and have shitty professors where no one learns shite.

If you are at a good school and working towards a legitimate degree, your college courses are going to be more difficult.

My sons AP history classes are super in depth. It's probably because his teacher is a mega-history geek that does civil war reenactments. His AP Biology class is tough but he is the only kid in the class so he gets excellent instruction.

My granddaughters (10th and 12th grades) are taking AP classes and are working harder than I ever worked as an undergraduate at LSU. The stuff they cover like calculus and statistics are more advanced than what I got my second year in college.

was in gifted in high school. Calc 1, chemistry, and freshman English at LSU were all way easier than in high school. My first English class at LSU is what made me realize that college is joke and any moron can get in.

Same here. Although I didn't do all that stellar in Chemistry at LSU since I was terrible at doing my online homework, but overall the class was easy and if I would have given it any studying time it would have been an easy A. English at LSU was an absolute joke, I mean just plain stupidity to even have it as a college class. First few math classes were a breeze as well. It wasn't until physics and engineering classes until it got hard. In fact, physics wouldn't have been that bad if they had decent teachers and didn't try to pile tons of people into departmental exams. I went to a shitty high school and can easily see how students would think this way.

My Honors English class from 10th grade was more difficult than any of my college level English classes.

I had to write more in college English, though.

College classes are harder in some aspects. Your quality of teaching is really dependent on luck. My AP classes in HS had great teachers with harder material.

My two cents-My daughter is a Junior at BRMHS and I'm guessing that after her AP classes, LSU will be a breeze. The amount of time she spends doing HS course work is just ridiculous. Just her reading assignments alone boggle the mind.

I guess it all depends on where you went to school for both. I went to Baton Rouge High, where the honors and AP courses are legit. Go from there to LSU and yeah, the couple of 1000 level course I still had to take were a breeze.

My sister on the other hand went to Woodlawn and had a great GPA, but struggled a lot more with her required math and sciences in college.

My 12th grade AP British Lit course was way harder than English Comp I, II, college British Lit, and American Lit.

Essay exams, 40+ IDs, and quizzes with 7 questions that required a page a piece to answer.

Calc 1 was about even and so was physics and chemistry freshman year. now calc2 we covered everything i learned in hs in 2 weeks and i was like wtf? same with chem2. Physics 2 was a whole different planet, i was lost Now english was way way easier than hs. Geography was honestly easier than my 8th grade geography class. Biology was about the same.

Now Engineering classes and everything after 1st semester besides english and prereqs was way way harder. well besides statistics, that shite was easy as hell and was basic understanding.

This applied to both LSU and McNeese for me. When i was at LSU and didn't work, I was amazed by how much free time I had and its what got me in trouble. After the first semester, I just started day drinking everyday pretty much, even between classes. As the classes got harder I started fricking up bad and its why I had to transfer, I had to start over or I was going to become a full blown alcoholic and fail out. When i was at McNeese working full time it helped with structure.

But those years of college are necessary for people who went to dipshit high school

Went to a dipshit HS and thought the early years of college were a breeze. I think the biggest difference is in HS (at least mine) you would go to the same classes every day from 8am-3pm, then have HW everyday from those same classes. Add that to the sports & after school jobs, then you would only have a few hours to get your HW done.

In college, you typically had 2-3 classes a day (if you went 5 days) and had ALL DAY to do any work/studying before going to work and/or practice.

They weren't for me but I also went to a crappy public high school where the level of competition was not very high compared to intro hard sciences classes at USC.

Some were, some weren't. But the basic science courses were harder in college than they were at LSU Dental. But the again, I we t to UNo for undergrad, so I was taking essay tests in Biochemistry when my froends at LSU were taking multiple choice tests. I breezed through Biochem at LSUSD as a result and won the top student award.

I'm sure English and math courses were easy at Southeastern.

I guess the University Of No Opportunity is sooooo much tougher than SE.
