I find the Darn Tough Vermont socks a little too hard to put on. Not stretchy enough but good quality. Pacas on the other hand are buttery soft and easy to put on. Much easier on my old back.

If you want cotton, try zcano, made in Ft Payne, Alabama. Smart wool are good too. If you really want something warm, get some alpaca socks.

A little more expensive. But worth every penny.
