Cardiologist wants me on it but I’m somewhat wary. Anyone taking it, what side effects are you experiencing and what benefit(s) are you seeing?

I heard it makes you gay. So everything would stay the same for you.

My wife started on it for hereditary high cholesterol. She has used just about every statin out there, and repatha has, by far, the least side affects, if any, and more importantly, knocked her cholesterol to extremely low numbers.

Would recommend.

I’ve taken it for a little over a year. It works as advertised, my cholesterol is 75, LDL is 11 or something ridiculous like that. Side effects are relatively minor, I feel sort of hungover for about twelve hours after the injection. I take it right before I go to bed now and it’s not an issue.

What was your ldl before? Any other tests done like calcium CT?

My doctor is trying to push statins on me pretty hard and I’m not interested at all going on any pharmaceuticals.

Seems about right, can cause flu symptoms. Fatigue, body aches, sore throat, mild fever.

I’ve been on it a few years. Statins jacked my liver up so I had to try it. Cholesterol is in check and no side effects

Try eating a salad and walking instead of taking drugs.

Agree but this is genetic in a lot of people

I see fatasses with completely normal cholesterol and fit people with awful cholesterol all the time

I have. I hike 3 miles 4X/week and go to gym 3X/week. 6’1 195lbs. with a second trimester gut. Gut will not budge. Not taking any drugs but as others have mentioned and doctor has noted, the high cholesterol level may be inherited.

Essentially no side effects. It’s a monoclonal antibody and works very well. Insurance usually won’t pay unless intolerant to statins, serial and/or cholesterol isn’t at goal

My LDL was over 100. I have bad genes and have had heart surgery. If I'd been offered this prior to surgery I would have not hesitated to take it. I do take a statin in addition and I have no side effects.

Side effects typically disappear over time with most medicines. I have experience with this.

I’ve taken it for over 2 years and have zero side effects. My cholesterol levels are now excellent. I have high cholesterol due to genetics, because I’m not overweight, eat healthy and exercise. I took statins prior to Repatha, but had some side effects. It’s kind of expensive, my insurance pays some and my pharmacy gets a coupon from the manufacturer, thus making my out of pocket only $25 per month.

Why would *high cholesterol* be a surviving genetic predisposition after so many thousands of years? Perhaps we are finally living long enough, on average, for its negative consequences to surface?
