Twice, sort of. Once as a teenager I was getting high with some friends in a downtown warehouse and heard a scream. Went outside and there was a freshly dead guy with a hole in his forehead and a huge pool of blood. He had dreadlocks and the Jamaican look. He had a copper coil from an HVAC unit next to his outstretched hand. He died falling three stories in an alley trying to shimmy down a power pole carrying his loot. Flagged a cop down at an intersection, who gave me grief and threatened me as I was clearly freshly blown high. But he was there, and fully dead. Made the evening news.
Second, childhood best friend was murdered. His body was found ages later buried in a field a mile from the street we grew up on. High school kids partying found him and were texting pictures of his skull around. Went to the site at night and stepped over the crime scene tape. Found bones and pieces of clothing, as the police clearly weren't that interested in an extremely old cold case and didn't thoroughly clear the area. Holding your buddies bones in your hand is tough. It's like one thousand movies playing in your head all at once. Every fist fight, every skateboard ramp, every late night Nintendo session, every BB gun war. No killer was ever found. No burial. No closure. Still open case.

Stumbled upon one in Baton Rouge during a run back in the day.
When my mom died two years ago, I drove from Savannah to Atlanta to be there for my dad. I didn’t realize he didn’t call anyone other than the police and that I was going to walk upstairs to see her body on the floor.

When I was a kid, a friend of mine was under his house looking for a jar of pennies and overheard his bitch arse brother talking about one and the reward that might be offered if he and his friends found it. He ended up telling our friend group about it and we followed the train tracks all the way to the next town and found the kid.

Me and some friends heard a story about a kid who had been hit by a train several miles away from town. We walked the tracks to go find him but some older kids were trying to find him too and started bullying us. We ended up finding the dead body but we had to pull a gun on the older kids after a heated exchange. Pretty wild couple of days but it’s nice to know you have friends that will stand by you.
Do you have a “fat one” by Chance?

RULE #1 on floaters: Do not attempt to recover them, they fall apart and really REALLY stink.
Plus, if it’s a suspicious death, you can mess up evidence.
Thanks for the tip.

Emotional?
I’m fairly numb to that sort of thing. It doesn’t really bother me.

Yeah but I was a fireman.
They say you always remember your first. How about this, we were looking for a 7 year old in a burned out trailer. I stumbled on a small lump in the left over charred trailer parts, uncovered it a little and there it was. It didn't look like I thought it would.

I saw one floating in the industrial canal headed to Chalmette. Stopped at the police station and cops acted all nervous when I told them what I saw.

Never stumbled. Always knew where they were

Holy shite!!! We were friends at one time. It really sucked when we got covered in leeches. We should have used the fat friend as a raft.

On my way to work one morning around 3:30 a guy was ran over by a van while walking his dog. Cops weren’t there yet but blood was everywhere. Head was mashed.

Yes and I had a thread on here about it.

More than I care to count. As a teenager, heard the shot and saw the immediate aftermath of a suicide. Not long after, came up on an accident where the vehicle rolled several times. Young woman was thrown a long way into the woods, a group started looking for the driver, I was the lucky one. Early 20s walked into a tire store to people standing around a guy in a chair not breathing, I did cpr till the medics got there. He never revived I later learned. Office manager where I worked had an aneurysm at her desk. And I found my dad when he died, he was actually in the hospital and he died when I went to get a Coke. I hope the next dead person I encounter is me.

Have found several and seen many. Had one launch over the car behind us from a motorcycle sounded like a pumpkin hitting the ground no helmet.
Have seen several floaters/bloaters, had my grandfather die while holding my hand when I was a little kid, frozen dead kid in Maine at sugarloaf, guy in Shreveport literally severed in half except for his intestines going from Georges to the next intersection and a few just dead from natural causes

Care to define "stumbled" and is this more accidental or on purpose?
(asking for a friend)
