Like everything else they do, Rice baseball is awful so I am guessing no more than a handful of people actually saw.

I wish I enjoyed baseball and basketball as much as I do football.

We owned LSU when I played and had chicken thrown that meat at me I would have gone yard. Yes. Chicken graced the mound of many Owl first rounders and big leaguers who destroyed LSU

Yes...I had two goals: to exude confidence and to throw a strike...couldn’t let my fans down...mission accomplished

Txtiger79 has good info. Could be an insider. Neither happened.

which would put it near the top 1% of ceremonial first pitch speeds of all time...perhaps I could have thrown it harder but this was going against me:

1. I could not pitch from the rubber and get the push off and extra downward momentum from the top of the mound...I had to pitch from the grass in front of the mound.

2. The grass was wet from the recent rains and I wasn't wearing cleats.

3. I did not want to risk getting hurt. Throwing my hardest could have resulted in an elbow injury. As an endurance athlete, it was a risk I wasn't willing to take.

I can verify that Chicken's pitch wouldn't have been pulled over by a state trooper for speeding.
