I opened the thread hoping to see Linda Carter. Was not disappointed.

I don't remember Battle of the Network Stars very much, but I do remember Circus of the Stars.

I had my "Birds & the Bees" talk with my Dad and older brother while watching BOTNS!

The T&A was hot and heavy and me and Bubba were in the back room watching and they had some hot chick's in bathing suits as my intoxicated father came walking down the hall...saw what we were watching and he said, "Boys, always wear a rubber." And that was it!

Please enjoy that free advice from "The Father of the Century" ;)

He was right you know!

Yes.

Linda Carter and Jan Smithers in swimming suits was ripe fodder for a young udtiger.

Is this kind of nostalgia one of the things you guys look forward to as you get old?

I’m just glad I grew up in an age worth having nostalgia for. The only way people will look back at society today and become nostalgic for it, is if society looks like this…

Which, now that I think about it, looks likely.

I went to BOTNS in 1984. It was held on the Pepperdine campus on the Sunday following the LSU/USC football game. We found it by accident and didn’t stick around too long.

I remember a relay race where Kim “Tootie” Fields ran the anchor leg for her team. At that point in her life, she was borderline obese. Her team had a huge lead but the second place team quickly caught and passed her.

I remember seeing Howard Cosell and model Jennifer O’Neill. Both posed for photos. O’Neill shot herself in the stomach with a .38 in 1982 and they insisted it was an accident. Sad story.

I guess the water sports were held in a different part of campus. Anyway, we bailed pretty quickly…I guess we college guys thought it was lame at the time.
