I seem to recall hearing that one of the girls was thrown from the truck and hit a low barricade made of heavy piping which resulted in horrific injuries.

There's still a cross in the ditch in front of the park.

Thats what made me start the thread. Noticed the cross when I drove by this morning

Yes I remember it, and one of the drivers involved was Brett Garafola and his brother was one of the cops that was killed back in 2016 - Brad Garafola

TD as usual best resource for news, even archives.
Sad coincidence that the 2016 cop killings took place nearby. Old Hammond at Airline is the next intersection on Old Hammond after Drusilla.

Shortly after they started the whole have to be a certain age to ride in the bed of a pickup law push. If I remember correctly.

I remember...it was 5 teens in a truck. My sister used to take dancing right there at that park.

That was one of the best post on Tigerdroppings...EVER!

I played baseball with Brad...after the wreck. I knew about the crash but never knew it was Brad's brother that was involved.

I got to know SB at LSU sometime after the accident. Beautiful girl and incredibly smart. Lost touch with her though. Hope she is doing well.

Clicking through the articles, Lin later withdrew his No Contest plea. Then about a month later the Judge, Frank Saia recused himself because the Dept of Pub Safety and Corrections recommended probation but Saia gave him 3 years anyway. The trial started in Sept 1990 but he plead guilty. I can't find anything that happened after that.
