Have dark colored golden retriever from breeder in Amite. Been really happy with him, he makes 4 in December. Outstanding family dog and has also made for a good duck hunter as well.
We bought from them 1-1/2 years ago. He's been a really good dog. We had a little hip dysplasia scare when he was about 1 but it ended up being growing pains. Apparently his body was growing too fast. Now he's an 87lb lazy bum.
It's my pleasure to introduce you to .................. Frank

I would also recommend Puppies in Louisiana, they are located in Amite. Got my dog from them and he has been great.

If you aren't dead set on a Golden and want a Lab check out M & A Kennels in Church Point.

my hunnington Golden (RIP rusty) was the finest dog I have ever owned or met. He was a happy, smart, gentle and loving companion to me and to my daughter and a friend to every man or beast he ever met (except nutria rats, he hated them)
he did however die of cancer and some research reveals a troubling pattern of the disease in hunnington dogs. you will want to do your own research and decide if it’s a risk worth taking

Jesus. you "always adopt" dog people are insufferable.
i've done both. several times. I've paid upwards of $2k for a hunting dog and i've adopted a great pet for less than $50 on adoption special days at an SPCA. Right now, I have the $2k hunting dog and the $50 mutt. Both are equally loved, cared for, and couldn't be in a better home. But if i'm honest. The dog i paid more $$$$ money for is better looking, vastly more athletic, more intelligent, and much more capable when it comes to training. And is likely to outlive the mutt. Doesn't mean I love the mutt any less.
Truth is: Odds are you are going to get a better dog if you know where it's coming from, who it's parents were, who bred it, and what it's brothers and sisters are like. that's just a fact.
Why do ya'll give a frick if i adopt or buy from a breeder? Get the frick out of here with your dog virtue signaling. I don't give a frick if you rent, buy, or lease your car...

Adopted last week from shelter and couldn’t love her and spoil her more. 1 year old and sweet as pie

Klark four pound terriers aren't really "hunting dogs"

and she got shaved yesterday, 4lbs soaking wet....maybe. Penny thinks she's a squirrel, caught her pointing at Lucy in the backyard

Better hope Parmen doesn't see this. He will have a mob out looking for your dog.

Purchased out golden doodle from them. Best dog I’ve ever owned. Great with my kids and basically potty trained himself in a week. Can’t recommend enough.
Also have several veterinarian friends who respect their breeding process and feel they have good stock with minimal congenital issues from overbreeding

When did golden doodles become the hip breed to own? See those everywhere now.

About 6-7 years ago.

Got our pup from them about a year and a half ago. Dog is beautiful and has a great temperament. I’ve never met a happier or more friendly dog. Guy has a smile on his face all the time. His dad was Fritz who is one of their English cream colored dogs so he’s extremely light colored but they have any shade you could want. Good luck!
ETA: he’s a Golden not a golden doodle.

Nah, not at the level they are right now anyway

I think it is the combination of the little to no shedding and their temperament. I have people asking me all the time about my labradoodle and the first thing they say is I have been looking into getting one because of the lack of shedding.

Its been like that. They have been popular long enough to now have variants (Mini Goldendoodle).
The new "hip" breed is French Bulldog if you want to know.

I think more breeders nationally are producing litters. Also, they’re hypoallergenic dogs with the personality of a golden (and no shedding), the intelligence of both and come in a bunch of sizes (which sounds ridiculous). So really a great mixed breed

I have a medium sized five year old goldendoodle from Hunnington. Can't recommend them enough. I was/am a terrible dog trainer and he is amazingly well behaved despite it. Also has the cutest face I've ever come across
