Central Mississippi. Had it at home. But school didn’t get it til I was in 5th grade. I remember it being pretty miserable the first month or so of school. They’d let us bring water in those squirt bottles from home and keep at our desk

Sounds like my old shotgun off Franklin ave. Except it wasnt safe to have windows open for ac units or fans.

Sounds like you lived between St. Claude and the Florida Ave. Canal.

Really wasn't much better in the Lower 9th to be honest, but people back then didn't do like the idiots of today as far as amount of crime.

No a/c at school thru 6th grade. 2 ceiling fans and louvered windows that opened with a crank. Come to think of it, the main building at Catholic High didn’t have a/c either.

no ac at school

I remember this in junior high. The building was built in the 30s as part of the Alphabet Soup. It was all concrete and stone and wasn't going fricking anywhere, but it didn't have central AC installed yet when I was there. Teachers could bring their own window units for their classrooms. You prayed you got one of the younger teachers because they'd all bring ACs, God help you if you got put in one of the old school teachers' class who'd been teaching with nothing but a box fan in the window for 20 years and weren't going to change.

Good god. I didn’t have AC till about high school but I grew up in Wisconsin and I was still miserable as a kid in July and August just begging for a breeze to come through the window at night.

Can’t even fathom no AC down south.

We didn't have an AC. We had an attic fan. Our house was totally shaded by big live oaks. It worked pretty well pulling cooler air through the open windows of the house. The only issue was dust and pollen. We got a window unit at some point when I was age 13.
Still...God bless Cental air and heat!

Dad made a window fan out of a washing machine motor. Suck the wall paper off the wall. My 1 st home had an attic fan, purchased a window ac, then a second , before actually acquiring a real ac unit.

And no our summers now aren’t any hotter than they were then due to global warming so let’s just get that out of the way.

You stupid as frick cuck.

Growing up as a kid, never was I able to wear shorts on xmas. Once I was in college, I remember coming back right after xmas and seeing kids playing volleyball in shorts and bikinis, at the end of fricking DEC. Since then, there has been many years where you could wear shorts around xmas. That shite is not right.

Our high school gym didn’t have A/C until my senior year and I graduated in 2005.

I can’t imagine how bad we all smelled for the next class. Poor teachers.
