However, with all the random crime happening at night and even in broad daylight, we hardly ever go down there at all anymore. We don't go to any events downtown due to potentially being a random victim.

For the most part, these aren't "random" acts. The few instances where some poor sap gets targeted is usually at 6am, when he's staggering out of a bar on bourbon.

the snoball lines are always long, they just take a while to make them. Not like other things that are pre made and churned out

Guess it depends on what you call a party area. Mid city, the rest of uptown, Frerret, warehouse district etc has a lot of fun to offer.

I got a snoball Saturday. It didn't take that long.

Lines weren't an issue at all anywhere really.

Well based on the ginormous crowds, not many passed on going.

But as a resident of the Quarter, here's hoping crime & gutter punks keep more of you away.

We go every year and Sunday in Jax Sq. has always been nice. No problem getting some space and the crowd is decent / respectable. Same with Royal St. Getting there can be a bit of a hassle I would think, but I live in the CBD, so no much so.

The river front is too crowded, so we avoid that.

There all day Saturday until midnight had a blast and no issues.

You sound like a pussy, I doubt if you could defend your woman on the off chance something did happen. Good call on staying home.

I assume you are the same guy who posts on travel blogs about how L.A. and NYC are scary and unsafe because you saw a homeless guy on your vacation

WTF is your argument? Yes, there are a VERY few nice places to live. But the areas discussed canal, Bourbon, etc are sgithole eyesores that are riddled with nothing but shabby buildings, drunks, crime, drugs, whores, yada yada yada.

Corps are hauling arse and no new ones want to locate there.

Where do you live?

You said the only non shitty areas were old Met and the Garden district. I live uptown not in the garden district, and it's not shitty here.

Anyone else avoiding the Quarter now?

Not at all, it was awesome this week. Less people the better. Ended up walking from Jackson Sqaure to the Pels game and didn't get, robbed/shot/stabbed or raped.

Went on Saturday and Sunday, and I had a great time both days. It was pretty crowded on Saturday, but even so, I had no trouble getting around. Sure, the drinks can be a little pricey but depending on where you are, you can pop into a bar or package store (e.g., if watching from just outside the Mint). And I don't mind paying for concessions (though not an OT Baller) considering that the music is free. On Sunday, I hung out with a woman who is 8 months pregnant and families with children as young as 1. No casualties.

Went Saturday. Brought the kids. Had a blast. Waited 10 minutes for snowballs, maybe 15. Not bad. There was a block of Decatur on way back to cbd was a little sketchy, but that's only because I found myself in a block with a whole bunch of ghetto looking dudes with their hands down their pants.

I'm sure you would turn into a pussy too if you had a gun in your face. You would probably even piss on yourself. I have been fortunate not to be a victim. However, my wife was robbed at gunpoint in the Lower Garden District at night after getting off of work and accosted in the Marigny during the daytime. So maybe you would feel differently if it actually happened to your significant other instead of acting like a little bitch.

Walk into grocery store, buy a 12 pack of Abita cans (Purple Haze, Strawberry, Amber), then walk around the FQF area and tell the people at the gate you bought it from a vendor. Walk in and enjoy. Did this the past two years, it works for sure inside Jackson Sqaure. Saves you about $35-40
