It's not surprising to me that so many pussies post on a message board.

Last time I went to the Strawberry Fest, an old woman had a heart attack while driving, plowed into the crowd and killed several people. I was on the Ferris wheel at the time. Never been back.
I did take my family to the FQF yesterday.

Hey Pote!
How are your wife and my kids?

My wife and I used to love going to FQF and spending the day in the Quarter. However, with all the random crime happening at night and even in broad daylight, we hardly ever go down there at all anymore. We don't go to any events downtown due to potentially being a random victim. Also, the abundance of gutter punks and panhandlers don't help out either. Anyone else avoiding the Quarter now?
Do you check under your bed every night to?
To avoid crime you have to be prepared and have a game plan in place on what to do.
Be aware of your surroundings
Be nice to everyone, but have a plan to kill them just in case.

No way you spent time in the FQ and didn't die. You got ruthlessly murdered and you know it, stop lying.

So I would assume you never drive anywhere either, since you might get in a random accident.
C'mon, people in this thread are saying they aren't going to let the chance of violence curtail their life, but that is also a load of BS. They may not perceive the crime as a high enough threat, but to act like it will never have an impact is ridiculous. Most of these people calling it the "bogeyman" wouldn't step foot in a Mexican border town, and for good reason.

FQF is the time to go if you're worried about crime. You won't end up alone on a block. People everywhere.

I stay away from that whole city.

This is one of the queerest threads I have ever seen on this board.

I went Saturday, but not yesterday because I spent 3 hours fixing my lawnmower transmission before cutting my grass

I'm in NYC for the last month and if I had been home I would have gone.

I think New Orleans is a great city with fun people. I was born in New Orleans and lived there for years and always felt you could come out of a bar on Bourbon Street anytime including just before sunrise and probably be fine - maybe not so much a block or 2 off.
There are many areas of the city where I still feel pretty comfortable walking to my car or back to a hotel room at night. Bourbon Street in the French Quarter is not one of those areas anymore, even relatively early at night. I still go to Bourbon Street but I'm headed out well before midnight. To me, it just feels more dangerous because of a substantial number of young people loitering around with seemingly nothing to do.
On the bright side, the downtown Poydras Street and Warehouse District areas are much more vibrant than when I lived there.

Never went to FQF, took family to Aquarium, ended up right in middle of it, walked around the riverwalk area a little bit, enjoyed it was quite surprised how nice and easy going it was.
