I did so I stopped paying attention to weather forecasts. Now I'm back to blissful ignorance.

Farming was a lot riskier before good weather forecasts. Papa Walton or Pa Ingalls might borrow money to buy seed and then plant it with no clue torrential rains were coming two days later to wash it all away. Or they may leave a crop in the field a day or two late and have it damaged or destroyed by an unforeseen storm.
