Any websites or local places in south Louisiana that I can find real wood floors? Heart of pine or other similar products?

Where are you located?

Note: Also called heart pine or long-leaf pine.

Real wood looks good until your wife walks around in high heels

That is why one should make sure one buys quarter sawed, old growth flooring. OP, look up what the difference in this. There is a very big difference.

I have over 600sf of 100+ year old flooring that is all quarter sawed that came out of New Orleans. Stuff is hard as nails. I will be installing this in my camp.

Although structurally superior, quarter-sawn doesn't look as good in my opinion. I would rather grain than vertical lines. JMO

I believe Corbel on 61 between Zachary and St. Francisville has this type of stuff. Pretty sure they have a website you can google.

The interesting thing about that is if you eventually scratch it enough, it starts to have that cool distressed look.

But yeah, the transition phase from pristine floors to distressed isn't good.

Easy scratching is caused by a weak or poor quality finish with low solids. Denting, on the other hand......

Hardwoods with heels will always get beat up. If you have cocktail parties or a wife that wears heels to work hardwood floors are going to have marks, no matter what wood or finish you choose.

I have 100 year old pine that was salvaged from the old BR rail depot. They have dings, heel marks, and dog claw marks in them and still look great.
