I have an interview tomorrow for a Rescue Tech position. I know of the company from my medical experience but that's about it. Anyone has any good things to know going into the interview?

Yes. Im in the industry. Airgas is owned by Air Liquide. Air Liquide used to be a great company, but absorbing Airgas triggered serious growing pains. Later this year, Praxair and Linde merge overtake Air Liquide as the largest global gases manufacturer. Its going to make waves in the industry.

Im a medic in the Army....we are insurance policies you never want to use....but damned glad you have us when you need us.

But until then.....we sit on our arse 90% of the time. I've gathered this job is pretty much on those lines.

Is this public knowledge, or will the SEC be knocking on your door shortly?

just reading the job description, seems like more than your standard hole watch. Seems you will be forming rescue plans and writing the confined space procedures. Might want to brush up on OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 and be able to answer the general questions asked during the interview. Also you want to know what chemicals are being used or produced in the plant in order to write an effective rescue plan and outline the ppe required to be in place. Most of this is done at the plant level, but it is good to know what you might be getting yourself into. We don't do O&G work at my company but we do deal with with onsite vendors who handle confined space and other permits on some customer sites.

I thought airgas was mostly in the welding industry. I know they are buying up a ton of local welding supply shops. Only experience I have of them is a family friend who owns a large welding outfit paid a bill about the time airgas was taking over and the payment wasn't entered by the old company so airgas continues to pursue collections despite him providing proof he already paid it. He just found another supply shop.

This probably isn't helpful but at least you know my story.

The Airgas delivery guy's punctuality is wildly inconsistent.
