Really can’t air it out here until it is settled - but trust me, I WILL make an epic thread on it after it plays out.And I am moving in a few weeks and have my house under contract, and they are trying to enforce something indoors that has been that way for over a decade. And they are making threats that are far outside the Bylaws and trying to frick up my sale. And the board at the time it was done over a decade ago knew about it because they were all inside my house multiple times. Should be open and shut Liberative Prescription under Louisiana’s 2 year enforcement rule. It’s beyond ludicrous. Lawsuits will follow.
ETA: Neighborhood name has not been mentioned in thread and won’t be yet.

Have you considered hiring a few black ops professionals from another HOA nearby? Ya know, sort of fight fire with fire?
It’s amazing what happens when some of these board members are “suddenly non compliant” as well.
Priorities change, is all I’m saying.
You’d be surprised......

Just mow your lawn and make sure the paint on your car port matches the siding.

Big words. I hope this doesn't go poorly for you.
Bookmarked.

Sucks. I’ll keep an eye out for the thread. I battled several of them in the oak harbor/eden isles area. They fricking suck. Good news is most of them are broke as hell when you get down to it and can’t mount any real defense other than shitty letters.

What’s the advantage of buying where there’s an HOA?
With all the issues I hear about, it sounds more like you’re renting than owning.

When I moved in nearly two decades ago, there was no HOA. Never had a single issue the whole time I’ve been here until the day before I took a contract on my house (which they threatened to prevent - unlawfully, I might add). And it’s over something inside my house for over a decade... mind boggling. If fighting it costs me double what their “solution” costs, I’ll pay it and fight them strictly on principle.

This sounds made up. HOA's don't give a shite what's inside your house unless you've got a meth lab. So I'm guessing you've got a meth lab.

I want to buy a house that I will never live in that is inside a HOA community but is exempt from their rules due to paperwork or being before the HOA.
It is my dream scenario.
A thousand pink flamingos, cars on cinder blocks, flag poles, and neon green garage door with the music blaring.
I despise HOAs

Painted brick?
I'm in a war with my HOA about painted brick. The 4 member HOA doesnt "like" painted brick, so they rejected my paint plans. THERE IS NO RULE AGAINST PAINTED BRICK IN REGS. New construction is allowed to paint brick, but not me.
The way I see it, if certain rules dont apply to everyone, that's discriminatory.
My question is if I paint my brick anyway, what's the worst that can happen? A fine? Can't unpaint a house.
I'll probably go ahead and do it and challenge them to sue me.
Sorry for hijack..

I have been practicing law for 34 years and have never heard of a HOA attorney. No one could survive on such small and pitiful cases. The closest you are going to get is a real estate lawyer who might have experience drafting a HOA agreement.

What kind of fine we talking?
Seriously.
Not sure if I'd rather just pay fine at the beginning and call it a day.
My next step is running for HOA pres, paint my house, then quit.

What reasoning did they give you about not painting bricks? Since new houses have painted bricks it makes no sense.
