Hertz Is So Desperate To Unload Tesla Inventory It's Asking Customers If They Just Want To Keep Their Rentals

quote:

Hertz bought a bunch of Tesla Model 3s for its rental fleet and quickly realized that Tesla depreciation would be extra bad at scale. In an aggressive effort to sell off its remaining Tesla inventory, the rental company is sending extra cheap buyout options to rental customers. If you like your rental, Hertz will sell it to you for an extra cheap good deal. One Hertz customer took to Reddit to show off a screenshot of the deal he got directly from Hertz, a 2023 Tesla Model 3 with 30,000 miles on the odometer for $17,913.

quote:

Tesla has an 8-year, 100,000 mile warranty on its battery packs, and there’s still a good bit of that battery warranty remaining on this particular car, assuming Tesla will honor it on a used rental car.

Stephen Scherr made over a quarter billion in the 25 months he ran Hertz into the ground.

Tesla sales have been slowing, obviously fleet sales are about to evaporate.

They probably hit peak market share last year and it's down hill from here as competition sets in.

I really hate the minimalist design with no physical buttons, and it's seems many auto manufacturers are at least getting away from it

Physical buttons are safer. With physical buttons, I don't have to look down to press something and can do it all by touch and memory.

Yeah Tesla just cheaped out with the one touchscreen approach. Got to press through multiple menus to change crap, very frustrating while driving

Agree

Touchscreen is nice for some stuff but basic commonly used functions should be buttons

Does Tesla not have some type of voice command system? Also does it not have an assisted driving where you can take your eyes off the road? I see people complain about shite like this but I also see people zipping down the road looking at their cell phone(me included)

I just dont like the look of Teslas...the inside is too simple...I like lots of bells and whistles. The exterior is uninspired. They need a sportier look for my taste.

Tesla has voice commands but it does not have hands free driving. You have to keep your hands on the wheel like most adaptive cruise tech.

I know they have been slowly rolling out fully hands free here lately but not on many models yet. However they have a supervisor system that makes sure you are paying attention to to the road etc

Buying a regular former rental vehicle is dumb as hell and i can't imagine buying an EV that's been ragged out.

What was hertz thinking?

Supercharged to 100% Everytime probably. Not good for the battery long term.

It it seems like it would give you enough time to change whatever you want on the screen.

Yep. Analog controls are much better than the touchscreen doing everything.

Only thing I use touch screen for is android auto

I do it all with the voice command from the steering wheel and the only time I look at the screen is if I have navigation on to glance at it
