I assume that for a guy, it would be more like reminiscing about a “one that got away” who was super hot and went on to become extremely successful, or a girl who was crazy good in bed to such an extent that nobody else compares.
I don’t really have any exes that I could not get over for reasons like that. Sometimes I’ll reflect like, “yeah, that was fun”, but I don’t get depressed thinking no future partner will ever compare.
