You sound highly jealous of these successful people...almost resentful.

I love how you lumped every successful business owner into a small group of prydamid scheme fools.

I know several people who claim to be "self-employed" who have relatively nice-looking houses and cars. However, whenever I ask them what it is exactly that they do to make money, they then suddenly start getting kind of evasive.

Why the frick would they share the secret to their success to create competition?

Yes. The ones I know have a combination of 2 of the 3 following qualities:

1. A skill
2. Not terrified of risk
3. Family money

No, I'm not talking about shop owners or other professional contract workers. I'm talking about that guy that sits at home seemingly all day long and won't open up about what he does to pay bills. Looks like I struck a nerve with some people by starting this thread.

That's because it's a stupid question.

Most of my friends are "self-employeed"
One owns an ATV store
another is a lawyer
another has an oil business

Then I know a few day traders that are "self-employed" and basically work from home all day as well. Some do extremely well others, not so much.

Then there are others that work from home like home inspectors.

You really haven't thought this through apparently.

Why do you feel they owe you any explanation, much less throwing in the word "Exactly"?

They owe you nothing and you received it.

My two older sons each have their own successful businesses. They earned what they have.

I am numbnuts. That's why I can check back here throughout the day and read posts by retarded people like yourself.

Here's the trick...you have an idea/passion/specialty...you start your own company.....you bust your arse and reinvest most of your income until it becomes a viable business and starts to grow.

Yes, many business owners don't get specific because they don't want you to see their success and try to duplicate.

Do you ever see trucks going around cutting grass? Do you think they work for google?

Self Employed isn't the title for the people you speak of. Those people are called "writers". They usually have a lot of pot, free time, and family money.

Actual writers label themselves by what they write. "I'm a journalist", "I'm a sports writer", "I'm an author". If they say they're a writer, they're probably an unemployed pothead or too embarrassed to say sales clerk
