Did y’all see that contracting it at work will be considered a recordable? That’s going to change some things.

This is paper mill shutdown season. Mills are still shutting down for their scheduled shutdowns and bringing in tons of contractors to work on shite. Which is surprising to me

We're already there. Started last Friday. Working from the couch from the foreseeable future.

I hope so. Locked in and on the clock. I’ve already volunteered.

I work at a major and it's being talked about. I did the math, at 45 days that's about 42k after taxes.

Eta: Why the downvotes w/ no reply? You think that's a lie? Do the math, $48hr x 40hrs + $72hr x 116hrs + double time Sundays $96hr x 24hrs. That's $12,576 a week pretax.

Some had a policy last week that non employees could enter only if they hadn't been traveling recently. So if you were a local contractor, ok. If you flew into town for a meeting, no go.

I'm sitting in the visitors center at Dow now waiting on approval to get in today.

Dow is a go for me as a 3rd party and I saw a handful of contractors picking up hands this morning.

Which site? We are business as usual for the most part at ours. If you have a cough or fever stay home is the directive at this point. No mandate for non-essentials or contractors to stay home......yet.

No one knew which plants have done this though locally.

All the salaried desk jockies are working from home.
The units are operating normally with essential personnel and distancing in place.
Scheduled turnaround postponed.

Go figure...I'd rather catch the coronavirus than come out looking martian red from all the bauxite. That place gives you respiratory problems just showing up at the gate.

It’s funny how much smoother and more productive the units run without “non essentials”

I'm IT, And I hope my boss and execs don't realize how productive I can be working about 3 hrs a day from home unless they keep my salary the same.
