As in the last couple of years and what did it cost? My insurance offers a certain percentage off. So that’s somewhat of a break.

What about anyone with astigmatism? Was it worth it?

I understand that each cost is different and I do know that costs have gone down with the advancement in technology as well.

I’m also looking to do this eventually in Houston if anyone has any suggestions there as well.

Had it last year. Life changing. Highly recommend it.

Get a free consultation and see if you are a candidate.

My wife also got it last year and we flew to Philly the next day.

I went skeet shooting the day after I got it.

Not recent
If you can afford it & are a candidate it is life changing imo

Fay Woo at EMC in BR is GOAT. $3300 for all pre-op appointments, custom lasik (bladeless with wavefront) procedure, and a year of follow-ups/touch-ups (unlikely). Woo won't operate on you unless she's 99.99% sure you will have perfect results. had slight astigmatism fwiw.

had my surgery at 9am, went home and took nap, went to LSU baseball game that night. I could never read the names on the lineups from our suite before, but when I walked in that night, it's like everyone's name was in bold 4K HD. unreal. never had any of the starbursts or side effects people whine about, best money ever spent.

i'd feel totally comfortable recommending you to come to BR for her. she's the best in the state and several people at the office said she has people come from all over the country to have her do their shite. would just suck for you to come to BR twice

im sure Houston has some studs too

I had it February 2018 with Dr. Singer

I want to say total was just under $1800 for both eyes. Insurance was 15% off of what they normally charge.

I put $2000 in a FSA to save the taxes on the procedure also

I did it with Dr. Koch @ Baylor in Houston in Nov 18 right before A&M LSU.....It was expensive. I want to say right around 4 grand for both eyes and I did PRK cause thats what the special forces and he recomended. No flap. Hurts more and slower recovery but better results.

How was your experience with Dr. Singer? I’m scheduled to have it done with him next month, but thinking of getting a second consultation.

I have a fairly low prescription, but enough that I need correction to drive. Im sure he does a great job they just move you so fast through there it has me a bit anxious

Also, he is recommending to NOT do bladeless, says my eyes are fine and no reason to (although we will still do wavefront), but would be happy to take my money if I elect it.

He was good. I did not do the bladeless procedure either.

I have a slight astigmatism, my vision now is something like 25/20

I'd have it done again

I did Singer, and I got the HD package which cuts the flap. Life changing and highly recommend. Whole procedure literally takes 10 minutes.

I have astigmatism...have worn glasses since kindergarten

I’ve got an appt this afternoon Eye Surgery center on Old Hammond

I’m probably going to have lens replacement surgery or LASIK, whatever they recommend. I’m ready to be done with glasses permanently

My recent prescription says

Sphere cylinder axis
OD +4.75. -1.25. 175
OS +4.25. -1.00. 005

Whatever that means

I guess I hope lasik is an option since it’s much less expensive than lens replacement, but I’m prepared to do it either way

Best decision I have ever made. Had it done in 2013 and still see 20/20. It was right at $2200 plus post op eye drops, which were about $200. My doc gave a discount to people in the medical profession, so it saved me about $200.

Another for PRK here. It is recommended if you have an active life style. Longer recovery time though. It has been amazing not having to fool with contacts. I believe I have 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in the other.

It was free though so can't comment on that.

Had a super high prescription, almost not a candidate. Due to this, I had PRK. It hurt like a BITCH, so be prepared. Procedure is very quick, like all said, but dont expect to go back to work the next day with PRK. Total recovery time is a year, but took me about 4 weeks before I could put my font on the work computer back to normal. $4400

From glasses in K to the prescription, we’re close to identical. I’m sick of glasses. Let me know how the appointment goes

I'll come back tonight and update... I was referred by my primary care Dr to Scott Nelson at Eye Surgery Center. I was going to use Williamson Eye Clinic since I always hear their commercials on Moscona, but my doc recommended Nelson.

This is my first appt, so I doubt any procedure today, but hopefully they'll tell me what procedure to do and we'll get it scheduled for soon. I'm itching to do it ASAP, been losing weight and eating better and now I want to get rid of the glasses forever.

For those of you that had the surgery, how bad did it affect your up close vision if near sighted?

Most people i know who’ve had LASIK say that it was life changing, and the best money they ever spent.. but i know a handful of people who had major issues, had to have it redone and a couple who had halos, blurry night vision and never quite got back to normal.

Also, there have been stories in the news recently about people who’ve committed suicide due to botched LASIK (and other similar) eye surgeries.. the newscaster chick in Michigan, and a guy who was a self-made millionaire, had LASIK 20 yrs ago and never recovered.

I’m not trying to discourage anyone, but as a lifetime glasses/contacts wearer with astigmatism who thought for years that i’d eventually have LASIK done, i’ve decided not to do it since , with my kinda luck, i’d be part of the tiny percentage that have problems.. but of course there’s risk with anything in life, so your mileage may vary.

I can’t remember exactly but I had to wear glasses for maybe 30 days before my procedure
The night of the LSU Bama game I put my contacts in to watch the game with friends & a week later when I went in for my procedure they couldn’t do it
Had to wait another week

This is good to hear. I've got an appointment with her next month. Can't wait to not need my glasses/contacts.

That's definitely the reason.
