Anyone have a site with a good list of bike rides around Louisiana?

Lake Charles had one last week, looks like Anuadville had one coming up on 11/5-6. I saw a sign for one south of Shreveport a few weeks ago. But I can't seem to find a good site that has a list of all the rides that are coming up. I'm looking to do maybe a half century in the next couple of months or so. TIA.

Go ride that thing in Mandeville. It used to be an old railroad. I think it's 50 miles one way.
Of course I'm sure it's more fun to impede traffic, litter, and pee in people front lawns. You might want to wear normal clothing till this clown thing is under control.

New Orleans Bicycle Club has a list of rides somewhere on their site. Might just be local, daily rides though. Maybe check their Fbook page.

bump, I'm thinking of getting a new bike. This is the bike I'm looking at from bikesdirect, but I would like to at least consider buying something like a Giant or Cannondale or other reputable brand. Any suggestions on bike models that would be comparable, both in features and price to this model? Thanks.

bikesdirect has some screaming deals - I got my latest bike a fat tire one from there - comparable to name brands but much cheaper.

I personally wouldn't buy a bikesdirect bike if I'm spending 1400. Especially if it's an aluminum bike. Plus a good LBS will give you lots of free service over time. I have to bring my bike in a few times a year, and it's worth it. I'm not familiar with those disc brakes, but I had low end disk brakes on my CX bike and hated them if that's something you are looking for. Really not all that needed in flat Louisiana, and I personally am not trying to push the limits when it's raining, so wet braking has never been an issue.
Hard to tell you what's in that price range. I just bought about 2 months ago. If you are in the North Houston area any time soon, I'd give you a shop to go to though. I've bought 2 bikes from them and gotten over 1k off "sticker" both times. Both times were around this time of year. So you may be able to get something like a Cervelo R2 ($2400) for 1400 if he had your size in stock. Yes it would have 105 instead of Ultegra, but that's not really even noticeable difference unless you are a weight weenie. I cannot tell a shifting difference between my dura ace and ultegra bike (granted on is tt shifters vs STI shifters)

Bike Lane in off I45 near The Woodlands (Felt, BMC, Cervelo, Cannondale, & Quintana Roo if you need a tri bike). I shopped several stores. Bicycle World took my business card and looked through all their stores to find the best price their manager would give me on a Cervelo R3. They called back and were willing to give me a great deal at like $2750 (this is a 2500+ dollar bike). I walked into Bike Lane and asked the guy if he had an R3 in stock in my size. He looked and said, yep it's yours for 2,500. Didn't even have to haggle. He did the same thing for my tri bike. Sticker was 2999, and he gave it to me for 1,999. Just have appear serious and know what you are willing to buy.
Bicycle World, Bike Barn, Bike Land, and Bike Lane have all provided me significant discount prices at one time or another. Just have to buy at the end of a model year and hope they have on in your size that didn't sell. Bike Lane has always been the easiest to come off of prices though and who I buy from (doesn't hurt that it's really close). I don't even ask, he just asks me if I'm looking for closeout last years model pricing.
Another thing I'd look at is used. Reason I'm not a huge fan of bikes direct is that you aren't going to get a huge resale value out of that. I can probably sell my bikes for 80% of what I paid (discount obviously makes that possible) after 2 or so years if I want to make a change.

Those big Charity rides are alright (I just did one last weekend here), but there are a lot of people crowding the road pissing off drivers and not following the rules as best as they could be. Even some shop rides are too big. A good shop ride with 10 or so people who ride on out of the way roads early on a weekend morning is a good thing to find, but hard in LA where cycling isn't as big.

I'll be there doing this ride this weekend. If you live in LC check out Southern Bicycle shop and ask for John. He is always having great sales and willing to negotiate and work with anyone. I bought a Specialized Venge from him a year a ago and he gave me a great deal on it because it was a demo bike but it was in pristine condition!!
