First, once the numbing shite is gone, how long before the serious pain starts?

They had to numb my tooth area 4 times. the tooth wouldn't respond to the numbing agent. They threw a hail mary, put more shite on the tooth and it finally worked, if not, was going to have to go under the gas.

And how long before it starts to clot and slow the bleeding?

Been home an hour, and i feel like i'm pulling weeks old tampons(gauze) out of my mouth, Nothing but blood.

Should just be a dull pain. I had an abscess that literally pushed the tooth out of the socket. Never felt pain like that. Pain immediately disappeared once the dentist took it out.

Did the doctor not send you home with instructions?

It’s not that bad. The nerves are all gone. Whatever you do, don’t use a straw. You’ll get a dry socket.

Usually right before the crying.

Take the pain pill BEFORE the numbing medicine wears off.

Unfortunately, you're still a jackass.

How many week old tampons have you pulled out your mouth?

Had all my wisdom teeth taken out during my third jaw surgery after I suffered a broken jaw in a car accident, if that counts. Surgeon offered to do it since my deductible was long paid and my jaw was going to be wired shut anyway. I didn’t really notice any difference.

Maybe you will be spared the experience of accidently biting down on a seed or something and fracturing a tooth to the root, the tooth is done at that point.

I have never found getting a tooth pulled to be all that painful. there is nothing pleasant about the experience, but you are not going to be writhing in pain or anything like that. Just take your pain meds as scheduled, relax, and you will be ok.

I had a wisdom tooth pulled last month. Bled from 11:30a till around 9p. I tried biting down on a tea bag but it didn’t work so I just let it bleed out. Never really hurt. Nothing Advil didn’t relieve. But I only had one shot of Novocain.

You got a lot of blood in you. Don’t worry and let it bleed.

It’s going to ooze for awhile, so if the gauze is just tinged with blood then it’s stopping. It depends on the person when it stops. Keep biting down on the gauze and change it out every half hour. If it’s still bleeding after a few hours use a damp black tea bag instead.

If they gave you pain meds, go ahead and take them before the numbness wears off. If it was a complicated extraction it’s likely gonna be painful.

Dental pain is the hardest to control. The proximity to nerves, the brain, soft tissues and hard tissues... Stay on the pain meds as prescribed for at least overnight no matter how high a tolerance for pain one may have. Gotta stay AHEAD of dental pain way too difficult to play catch up!

If you do get to running behind trying to catch up, send someone to the pharmacy to pick up some clove oil and q-tips. Kinda more tasty and less effective local anesthetic than say Novocaine or Lidocaine.

Use sparingly on the gums before and after the surgery site. Don't use much, it's powerful and can start to corrode the tissue if used a lot. Wears off quickly too but remember to use it sparingly.

do NOT apply to the extraction site itself!

I endured this when I had my wisdom teeth taken out 18 years ago. Yeah, follow the rules.
