My dad has just about talked me into it. He has had that deal for a while now. I thought it was a new promotion but apparently they've done it before. He says he hasn't found the catch to it yet so he has been happy with the service

I got one with my last truck (Tacoma) but the place I bought it from sucked arse.....they screwed up the alignment twice so I took it to another Firestone and they did it right.

I'd recommend you find a competent Firestone to do your business with FIRST.

My experience has been exact opposite of this. Have had 4 cars on it for at least 5 years. Have aligned them every time I’ve requested it and have never said I need any additional parts/ repairs.

Edit to add: brought the wife’s car in last week due to nail in side wall. I knew it Would have to be replaced due to location of nail. She has run flat tires that were two years old. We didn’t buy road hazard and they put the new tire on for $85 by saying they listed it as a partial warranty issue. I’ve had good fair service by them all the time. This was downtown BR location.

Edit 2 - I don’t do oil change or vehicle repairs at Firestone. Use Tony Lee for that.

Alignments may be the most oversold thing in the history of automobiles, and that's saying something.

hey will align your car, but will tell you that you need X part. Have them align it, anyway. Check out your car. If it needs X part, install it yourself (or have someone cheaper do it), then take it back to Firestone to be realigned under the lifetime plan.

most of the newer cars have an electric rack and pinion. Not many parts to wear out. And I'd also be cautious about their alignment process. I can almost guarantee you that any subsequent alignment procedures after the first one that the tech is simply "setting the toe and letting it go". No caster or camber adjustments .

No doubt that's what many will do.
Best thing to do is to find a quality shop that has alignment equipment (Hunter, Atlas) that will print the results before and after the adjustments are made. The printout should have the VIN or license plate with mileage on it so you are not getting some generic form the sales guy pulled out from under his desk.

You can get the Firestone Lifetime Alignment for $120 once or twice a year when they have a sale. Set up an email alert on Slick Deals and you will get notified next time they have it on sale. The next deal will probably be either Black Friday or New Year

The wife (no pics) has this and the warranty on her tires. She's used them a lot and Firestone is great about accommodating the free work when needed.
She's banging a technician there brah.

He's vigorously aligning her vagina with his tool.

Sorry?

twice i went to firestone for an alignment (second time was several years later and after new ownership) the car pulled more after the alignment then before and they refuse to redo it so i had to go to another shop to get it done correctly.

i went there to get a simple brake job and they refused unless i committed to a $600 cost to replace everything and this was before they even looked at the car.

firestone is only about ripping people off and they have the worst mechanics there

Absolutely, assuming you have a good firestone.

I've done it at least 20 times between oil changes, new tires, etc.

They key is finding a firestone you believe is trustworthy, and pay attenion to any management changes, etc.

I'm still relatively new to this firestone. I've only needed about 2 years worth of tire patches and oil changes from them (so maybe 6-8 low maintenance visits). But just today our administrative assistant called them about maintenance on her car and they turned her away because she's still under warranty from her dealership. So I'd have to think saving a customer money by deliberately taking business away from yourself has to be a good sign.

ETA: in fact, I can't recall the last time I've gotten one, rotate every 3k though

People are downvoting you to hell but in general, you are correct. Routine alignments have basically gone the way of 3k oil changes with most modern cars. My Lexus ES travel car has over 400k on it and not a single alignment and the tire wear is still as even as one can expect. It is the only car I rotate the tires on because the rest of our vehicles have asymmetrical sizes and are directional tires. I only rotate the ES's tires once in their life to balance front and rear wear on a FWD car. The Lexus sees everything from perfect interstate asphalt to horribly chunked and heeved pavement in the NE and Midwest.

This doesn't mean alignments are never needed after accidents, suspension work or if you like to hit Volkswagen eating potholes at 80mph but if you keep a close eye on tire wear and can actually read the wear on a tire the majority of the time the service writer is suggesting one it is wasted money.

Good info. My car is a 2008 equinox (a real panty dropper I know). So at a decade old I wouldn't quite consider it a modern car. I still get the oil changed every 3000 miles though.
