I tried it and it actually made mine fall out quicker lol. I just said the hell with it and shaved it off. It's alot easier to maintain now. I don't even think about it anymore. I would never do a transplant, but if they come out with a magic pill in the future to prevent baldness, I'd consider it.

My son at 3 months old was on minoxidil for blood pressure issues and he became the hairiest little toddler you can image.

That my anecdote. YMMV

Actually hair falling out is a part of the initial stage, where your short thinning hair do fall out and then longer healthier hair follicle comes in. I've read a lot of people get discouraged by the initial shed and quit, but it's actually just a phase that is possible in some cases and you just gotta stick with it.

Then again maybe you had other issues going that that exacerbated the hairfall and it wasn't minox related. Regardless, minox will have hair shedding initial effect on some, so I'm weary of that and know not to freak out.

I'm doing it and have been taking pictures - only way to really gauge if its working or not. Takes a while. My wife and others say it's working. Time will tell. I'm comfortable being bald - shaved my head and then decided to give it a shot just to see if it would work. Fk it who knows ¯\_(?)_/¯

If you’re losing your hair it’s because of low testosterone

If/when you stop usage, your hair will fall out at a faster rate than before.

Do all of these remedies just stop hair loss or do any actually help new growth? Mine just started thinning in the last year.

Amazing the medical breakthroughs we have had in the last half century and yet nothing close to curing male pattern baldness.

My wife told me this week that I should give it a try, but I know her game. She’s hoping it will curb my sex drive. Instead, I’m doubling up on squats the next couple of weeks to boost that testosterone even more. That’ll learn her when she gets this 4.5” for 75 seconds every other night.

They never make medicine that helps men. All the research dedicated to men’s health goes into making better bombs

Meanwhile they have a whole football league dedicated to a woman disease

I used it for a year and all my hair still fell out.

You need to take finasteride if you don't want your hair to fall out.

I don't believe this.

Rogaine is supposed to slow down the hair loss, not grow it back.

Usually, people get on fin and do rogaine or generic min with it.

Minoxidil helps to nourish and “regenerate” hair follicles that have shrunk as a result of MPB. However, if an area of the scalp has completely lost its follicles, and there is complete baldness, then Minoxidil hairline restoration won’t work.

My hairline was already receding. So, it doesn't grow back the hair that already was lost.

I think it is like 70%+ of men experience hair loss or thinning by age 50.

Try when it happens to you at 20.

Dang, I read 2/3 of men actually get hair loss by 35. Seems a bit young.

Finasteride

I talked to my dermatologist about this bc I’ve been thinning for years. He looked me squarely in the eyes and legit said, and I quote, “you have to be careful with that one because it can give you serious sexual side effects”. I asked if they would be temporary if I stopped it and he said it usually is but some people never recover.

That was a quick appointment that ended with me suddenly being perfectly content with having to one day shave my head.

quote:

Finasteride is sometimes used during gender transition, particularly in feminizing hormone therapy for trans women. It's a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, meaning it helps block the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is responsible for some of the masculinizing effects of testosterone.

DHT gives you the body hair and deep voice. The problem is the follicles on top of your head are sensitive to it. And for some men more than others.
