Yeah. They made an American Greed episode about that ring.

With credit card chargebacks, how does this work?

If someone uses my card and I challenge it, I get my money back and Mastercard takes it from the business where it was charged at.

If the bar was charging the card illegally, then that would be easily resolved.

And the rest occurs around Lenox Square, where you now have the opportunity to both shop AND dodge bullets. Buckhead is what it is now largely due to culcha, Boo Boo.

I used to always see this going to my mom's work. Thought it was a lesbo bar.

Buckhead was on fire in the 90s. It was the funnest place to bar hop in the southeast at the time. Especially as a young twenty-something.

I have never been to Johnny’s. Might be time for me to check it out on a Saturday night.

Not just the southeast. You could have made the case for it being up there with Miami, NYC and Vegas.

Ahhh. Johnny’s Hideaway, it’s legendary! Love the old school feel to it & disco night is awesome.

Only thing I HATE about it is the smoke. I can’t do the smoke.

But Johnny’s is big time famous and used in many big movie scenes. Never had anything but an awesome time dancing there!

Very nostalgic type of place.

The beguiling “bar girls” lured a TV weatherman and other easy marks into private nightclubs on Miami Beach, where they ran up hundreds of thousands of dollars in bills on their credit cards for fancy bottles of Dom Perignon and Russian vodka. The girls, recruited from Eastern Europe by the club owners, testified they picked up the patrons in luxury hotels like the Delano and plied them with overpriced drinks at the seven South Beach venues. The girls said they got the out-of-town visitors so drunk that the men complained they couldn’t even remember signing their credit card slips.

That's different. That's just drunk dudes spending money. I'm talking about actual fraudulent charges of thousands of dollars. The credit card companies can come back on that - and do, daily.

It was more complex than that though. They did stuff like sell cheap wall art to the drunk guys at super high prices. It was an organized ring. You should watch the episode.

Some of the girls were very attractive:

i have a pretty common last name.

i have had to dispute several tabs before because people will come up to the bar and say "put it on Wolf"

if there bar is busy enough the odds are good there are several tabs open. I was dinged for nearly a grand one night, thankfully I wasn't $1000 drunk and I was going to the same bartender all night.

I have also been on the other end of it, closed a tab after drinking all night and the bartender put it on the wrong "wolf".
