The last couple nights I've woken up around 1 with my mind racing 100mph, shortness of breath, and tightness in my shoulders and legs. It took me about an hour rolling around with it before I took .5mg of Xanax and was able to go back to sleep. I slept like a rock and woke up an hour after my alarm feeling very tired.

I see a therapist and a psychologist, work out daily, am active at church, and try to eat right. I probably drink too much which isn't helping but it's the only thing that takes the edge off. The last month has been a mess. I'm trying to finalize selling my business, one of my kids was suicidal, and my relationship with my wife is all over the place.

TLDR, Getting old sucks. This isn't what I foresaw 30 years ago.

Yes, I had one last night.

I have lots of demons, have tons of nightmares with waking up with panic attacks.

Not often. I assume it happens to most men occasionally.

Drinking is definitely not helping. Your brain is telling you it is though. Drinking probably fricks up all those hormones that help you sleep, fall asleep, stay asleep, etc.. it’s hard to stop but has benefits.

Between family and "the world " it's CAF! I'm dealing with a 37 year old who is messed up and I swear if we don't take care of the stress It will Kill Us!

Virtually every night. Being an adult man with a family to support in an unpredictable economy can be a thankless, brutal existence. Sorry to hear you are suffering. I hope your situation improves.

I've had a couple in my lifetime. Hard to explain how I felt or what was even going on, but it rattled me. The first time it happened 4-5 years ago, I was so rattled that I poured a triple bourbon at 2am just to calm down. I just sat there wide awake with a level of confusion that I can't put into words. There wasn't even a nightmare/dream associated with it.

Hang in there, bud.

You're right, but if I'm being honest, sitting with a bourbon and watching TV or reading a book is the only thing I look forward to these days. It's the only thing that makes me feel something.

Twenty five years ago I'd agree with you. I wouldn't even take Ibuprofen if I had a headache. Not anymore. They're good guys and really the only people I have to talk about what's on my mind.

I had one back in August. Just an awful and scary experience. This is a very cruel and unforgiving world, and it can be an absolute bitch to navigate at times. You are not the only one who struggles!

The fact that you have xanax lying around your house tells me there are some underlying issues
