Are they really that bad?

the one experience I had with them was not just bad, it was criminal, had I not have had so much going on at the time I would have pursued criminal charges and possibly a lawsuit, it was bad enough for me to tell that it was not an isolated anomaly, but their SOP, it was bad enough that I will tell anyone that asks my opinion of them to stay the hell away from them

Next time ask for recommendations here. I found Abba Movers through this forum. They were amazing!

Worst I have ever had is just mover help not showing up on either end.

I had to reverse a charge on my card for a deposit that I had paid for one service that I booked who didn't show, and they couldn't find a record of them charging me in the first place.

But I had always done the driving or moving myself. This last time was the first I had paid someone to transport as well and worked out

That’s why you buy a case of corona and pick up 2 “Texans” out front of Home Depot and pay em $50 each plus beer to load up the truck.

I gave them beer and Powerade. They still were douches.

I'm moving next month and we were debating about doing it ourselves or hiring a moving company. This just sealed it.

After this experience I feel like an expert. You have 3 reasonable choices:
1. Sell all your shite and buy new stuff when you get there
2. Hire bellhops to load and unload your stuff and use a pod to ship
3. Rent a Uhaul and get bellhops to load/unload, drive it yourself

Moving companies just don’t seem worth it. If you look up Continental you will see all sorts of horror stories. Then you look at who they hired, American home relocation, (apparently Continental is a broker) you will see even worse reviews.

Did you do any research on the moving company beforehand?

Yes. Had a friend who had a good experience with them. When I hired them in June their reviews were mostly positive. Something happened at the end of June/July and their service tanked.

I had a mover put all the weight on an very large antique armoire (looked like the one below) on two of the legs on one side. The weight snapped both legs, it fell down, and crushed his head. He had to be taken to the hospital and my move was put on pause until the next day. So on top of fricking up an expensive family heirloom, I couldn't sleep in either house due to everything being in the truck. Still not sure what he was thinking but he ended up being fine. Legs were "restored" but the repair is obvious.

I’ve been directly involved with Two Men and a Truck 3 times. They are fantastic and the best at what they do.

I have hired movers like this. they looked like mario and luigi and I thought they were respected. not as bad as you but they traveled on a sunday to avoid the weigh in because they had 5 families on one truck. I will use a known mover next time.

Yep, that’s a pretty one sided agreement. I put mine on Amex and disputed the charge. Never heard a word from All My frickups.

Did you take bids from several different companies and go with the cheapest one?

Buddy of mine worked for the Federal Government and took a three year posting in Guam. When you move overseas you get one shipping container full of goods. Anything you can fit in it. Move there was fine. Move back they had all their household goods plus a truck that he bought over there and wanted to bring back in the storage container.

The ship hit rough seas in transit and lost his container and several others over the side.

My family moved from LA to the Midwest when I was 13. Moving van driver got pissed about something about halfway there. He parked the contents of our entire household somewhere in KY and left it there. We lived in motel rooms for over a week before they found our stuff.

Ive had really good experiences with Two Men & Truck the last couple times i’ve moved, and one was a cross-state move.. I looked into some of the larger, big rig & trailer companies like Mayflower and Continental, but there are two problems with those companies 1) They typically need a 6 to 8 week timeframe between loading your stuff and unloading it, esp for out of state moves.. i guess they wait till the truck is full, with your stuff and other peoples stuff- which can take a while.. and 2) They are expensive as frick.

The couple times i’ve used Two Men they were VERY reasonable, and moved my crap the same day; well i think there was one overnight involved for the cross-state move... The one thing i would advise people to do, and this goes for any moving company- always, ALWAYS sign a contract with them using a FLAT rate, *not* an hourly rate.. if you go with an hourly rate, no matter what they tell you before, it will be far more expensive than the original estimate, usually double or triple the amount.. If using Two Men, keep in mind that each location is privately owned/franchised so some will do flat rates, some wont.. Last time i moved from NOLA, the two New Orleans locations didnt do flat rates, but the BR location did, so I went with them.. Good luck!

YES momentum movers here in Shreveport! The assholes cancelled on me DAY OF MOVE!!! They stated that they didn't feel comfortable because it was supposed to rain...told me this in a text no less. I called them fuming saying frick that, I hired you, I have to be out of this apartment today..find a frickin way...this is your job! They said ok...well we'll try.. but I already told me crew theyw ere off today so it's going to be a few hours.

I had to start looking for a replacement which I found, but of course had to pay a same day fee....it was clear all they had left was the D team..... 2 stoners one of which was wearing fricking flip flops.

Mind you they arrived about 4-5 hours after the initial move was about to begin. The whole time we were waiting not a drop fell... about an hour into cheech and chong loading my shite the sky opened up at which point they informed me they also had the D squad truck...which leaks... so at the end of that day I had paid extra for about 40% of my shite to be moved.

Finally the next day, I got the A team from the second company... a former marine and his crew came and finished the job in about 2 hours.

I made it my mission to find everywhere momemtum movers was online and write a scathing review...most unprofessional shite I ever experienced

This is true it is amazing what is fit into those containers. Worst I had was dice from games and couch cushions missing from the workers playing games and sitting on the cushions
