I'm building up to it. Currently at 16:8, next is 24hrs, then 48 before 72. I am reading that the real magic of fasting occurs at the 72 hr mark. Good Luck

its a lot easier if you mix the water 50/50 with wiskey

I started doing intermittent fasting and extended fasting(24+ hours) back in April. I'm currently down 15 lbs without changing exercise or what I eat.
That is what I love about fasting is that I can still eat what I want; it's just when I eat. I did keto before and it is effective, but I just couldn't do it long term. Fasting I can do long term.
Generally I try to fast for at least 20 hours before eating anything and try to do OMAD (one meal a day). I try to do an extended fast of 36 hours at least once a week. What makes it hard to stick with it is social stuff..
My record is 100 hours fasting where I only drank water or green tea. This was tough, but not because I was hungry. After day 2, I wasn't hungry and had tons of energy. The problem was I couldn't sleep. I guess the ancient cave man in me wanted to go hunt and get food.
FYI, the world record for fasting is 382 days. After a few days of fasting you need to take supplements to keep your electrolytes in balance.

It's amazing the results people have gotten just from limiting their eating to a 6-8 hour window per day.

I'm type 1 diabetic. Don't think it would go well for me.

That's insane. Thank you for the info!

frick that. Was stupid way to lose 16 lbs in 3 days(~20 in 5 days, from 250-230). That's my spiritual take
And about 13 lbs of that was simply water leaving your body. You can't lose 16 lbs of FAT in 3 days. Physically impossible.

I’ve done a 3 day cocaine and whiskey only fast, does that count?

I've read on the fasting forums where people have reversed their type 2 diabetes/insulin resistance with fasting.
I think you're right that extended fasting isn't good for type 1. Intermittent fasting could be an option. You can search those subreddits I linked above and see what people say about it.
Did a quick search and saw this posted a couple months ago. Worth a read

Are there any benefits if you don't need the fat loss? Would it be harmful if you have low body fat?
Plenty of health benefits, but when you say low bf%, if you are talking sub 12%, you would start burning too much muscle compared to fat. Would be much better just doing 20/4 IF

No cigs?

I’ve been known to do a 7 day master cleanse from time to time. It helps a lot, actually. Fasting is good when done in moderation.
