Anyone ever bought custom made Amish furniture off one of those websites?

I'm eyeing up a set of tables from QW. Solid wood. It ain't cheap, but it seems a better bargain than some of the veneer crap you'd get in a furniture store.

I thought Amish rarely used electricity and when they do, it’s for basic necessities. So is it really the Amish using a computer and owning a website??

Clearly you have never been to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Those folks have the market cornered on separating tourists from their money. All sorts of craft stores and restaurants, all with electricity.

I bought 8 custom dining room chairs from a store in BR across from Costco. Great quality and very comfortable. Highly recommend .

I did but I later found out it was actually made by Mennonites. Boy was I pissed.

I have bought a lot of furniture from Clore Furniture in Madison Virginia. As did my Mother and Grandmother because my family is from those parts. WIth them you even get a choice of which hardwood. If the don't have it in stock, they will give you an estimate of when it will be delivered and they have always met that date or gotten it done earlier.

It’s overpriced. They have a store near my house and it’s ridiculous. Good quality though

I bought an armoire from Amish Outlet Store. One of the best built pieces of furniture I own. Was delivered a month before expected, too.

They had one of those reality shows a few years back about a group of them. They had the one guy in the little compound thingy that had a computer and what not. If you needed anything, you went to him.

What was the lead time on that? Thinking about buying a desk for my home office from there.

I could (and do) build stuff like that all the time.

I have way too much money wrapped up in woodworking tools, but if you have the right equipment, and then a taper jig on the table saw for the legs and mortise and tenon joints and you're golden. You can hand cut the mortise and tenon or cut the tenon on the table saw and drill out then chisel the mortise.

Either 4 or 6 months. I just remember being excited because it was delivered a month early. Also, white glove delivery was worth the extra expense.
