Anyone else’s parents talk back to the TV news?

Back home visiting for Thanksgiving. They make a comment on every story. It’s like their own personal opinion show. Pretty entertaining.

My MIL does that. It’s weird.

My parents used to have music on in the background when they weren't watching TV. Now fox news is on practically 24/7.

I solved that issue by not watching any of the MSM which is dominated by liberal progressive indoctrination.

You forgot they were dead? They would probably appreciate you thinking of them once or twice a year. Particularly around the holidays.

Parents never have that I can recall.

I am a different story, however.

I have shoes in a little basket and when they say shite I don’t like I throw shoes at the tv. That dude who called the last LSU game depleted my supply in ten minutes.

You join the club for a couple of decades and get back to me on how I should feel, Asshat II

Went to their gravesite yesterday.

Maybe this can save Fox. Give some random arse people a platform to comment on the news.

Shows like the Five could be the Five plus one. The premise would be after Juan finishes talking points. “We now take you the kitchen of Old Hickory’s parents for their side of the story...” via Zoom Skype or whatever.

Nowadays remote TV production has come light years in just the last year with a decent internet connection. I can remember seeing Judge Jeanne Piro’s setup at home during the quarantine. There were lights, monitors, a teleprompter, a camera, background monitors, and more. You couldn’t even tell if she was at home or a studio.

You can setup a few of these kits and tour the nation with random voices of the nation each day.

That's half the fun of watching the news. Being your own pundit. Deconstructing the news is what makes it worth watching.

Now what's annoying is when people do that while you're watching a movie. It's like, "Holy shite, STFU. It's called dialogue." My wife thinks she's going to convince the characters to change their mind.

I guess if we yell at the refs (and coaches) while watching football games on TV, why not the same for news?

I can’t watch anything on tv around MIL. She is a non-stop chatterbox. I have to hold up my hand like a stop sign if I want to hear something on tv.
