Shitty service shite tip.
It ain’t difficult putting a little effort into being a waiter. Let’s not disappear for 20 minutes. Make me happy or here’s 12ish% pre tax

But there's a chicken place in Covington, Red Bird?, where you walk up to self-order screen, order your food, go to the next counter and pay, they hand you a cup, and the screen asks for a tip.
That takes balls.
And the food sucks.
This.

If you'd actually read the bill, you'd know that "qualified cash tips" under H.R. 1 includes tips paid via debit & credit card.
quote:
(3) Cash tips.--For purposes of paragraph (1), the term
`cash tips' includes tips received from customers that are paid
in cash or charged and, in the case of an employee, tips
received under any tip-sharing arrangement.

A horribly miserable employee just made my order at Chipotle then asked for a tip.
What would ever make them think they deserve a tip?

Some people are just Aholes. Servers work their asses off most of the time.Having to deal with some of the most arrogant , elitest people there are. They have to put up with a lot of shite and most just deal with it.So some want to tip less because of their tax situation, why not just help them make a little more money. Most don’t work at Ruth’s Chris or Commanders or Brennans, they just eek out a living.Be a human being.

I’m usually a good tipper. (20%) almost all of the time. I havent lessened my tipping but on the drinks I have cut back.
Most are $3.50 now. So a 10% tax makes it 3.85, then add that tip and it’s close to 4.50 for a damn coke.

I have a system based on 3 variebles. 1 (how much did i enjoy my experience) 2 (did the person get the tip engage with me atleast 18% of the time i was there) and 3, the most important of all ( will i return?) if you dont meet all 3 theb i dont tip. If you do meet all 3 i tip based on 1 varieble ( how hot was she?)

I'll stay at 20% for restaurants.

Would you like it if your employer lowered your salary or reduced your bonus based on a tax cut?
You sound like a truly miserable tight arse. I hope you find hair in your food.

I prefer Europe tipping. Hardly any. Businesses pay their employees, not the customers.
Delivery of good food and service is in the price. If it’s exceptional, I will be a repeat customer.
Simple really.

theronswansonWith servers paying no taxes on tips, I’ll be lowering what I tip to about 10% and will increase it to 15% for exceptional service. They don’t have to pay taxes but I do so I am just going to tip less. Anyone else?
20 to 25-% for normal service. Up to 50% if she’s hot and I’m with the boys drinking
I get text or emails all the time saying did you mean to leave a 46% tip at such and such place.

Absolutely not. They still don’t get paid shite

I have never been paid more or less based on any shift in my potential tax burden, and I would not do that to someone else.

I kind of started to lower my % when prices started to go up.

quote:That’s a personal choice, and 10%–15% is still within the bounds of reason. My only caveat is this: if you were one of the many posters who supported this move on the board downstairs (or in real life), tipping less after it passed undermines the very legislation you backed, along with any arguments you made in support of its existence in the first place.

Not that low but 18% will become the new norm no more 20%
