I love maps.
Have some old National Geographic maps of the USA that predate the interstates (just the federal highway system). Really neat.

Yes I have always loved maps. When I was a kid I read all National Geographic magazines and maps available. We also had a World Globe and I used to spin and study that thing endlessly.

I love maps. I love google earth.
I routinely take calls from overseas and if the person has their address in their email sig, I’ll find their office. That may be a little stalked’ish but I like to see where and how other people live. There’s life outside the bayou region.

When Mapquest first came out back when I was a kid I was in heaven.

They’ve spent their entire lives looking at maps on their phone. Do you honestly believe their incorporating cross streets and landmarks would be beyond them?
I was thinking more along the lines of having the voice tell them what to do, move by move, without even having to look at the map.

I'll hang a lantern on the fact that I'm in my mid-30's, so I can't speak for what teenagers are doing in their cars, but the percentage of the time I'm in a car with someone who has voice navigation on is easily sub-5%. The issue is that the gps generally runs slightly behind, so the nav prompts can be too late. It's also really fricking annoying listening to her over long periods of time. I was just on a trip this weekend and the front passenger generally handled navigation.

I love google maps. Sometimes when I’m bored at work I will I find random islands and whatnot and read about them.

Lol I thought I was the only one that does that.
I love searching for remote islands and zooming in and then looking up details.

This is how I’d essentially describe myself since 2000.

love them. Still pick up an old map with a gas station logo from 50s,60s,and 70s from time to time. Love looking at maps where interstates aren't finished and have the double broken blue line.
GPS and technology is awesome, but there is nothing wrong with having a good ol' road map in your car, too.

I remember map stores in Dallas in the early 80's.
Mapsco? They were some of the most thorough, easy to read and understand maps I’ve ever seen. Wish they still made them.

Yes. I love looking at maps. Always have. Geography was my forte when I was in school, and I wish I had made a living in the field.

Absolutely. I have always loved finding new routes to get to places.

Ha. No they don't. They they follow the solid blue line or listen for the voice to tell them where to go.

When I start looking at some of the vast Western landscapes on Googlemaps with the satellite layer, I sometimes get lost in it. I love it.

When we were younger and took a lot of road trips, my dad would always go to AAA beforehand and get the Triptik (flip road map guide) as well as the state location guides with the lodging, food and activities information. He'd always get me a second TripTik because I loved to follow along in the car.
I know I saved those somewhere, now I've gotta go back and see if I can find them.
On another unrelated note, check out this link of the online library archives of Louisiana and Baton Rouge area maps. It's always fun to explore these, and they are in really great high quality.
