I stopped drinking for lent and the past few days have gotten rough. Almost caved tonight.
I didn't give it up, but I have what I assume is a cold and I know alcohol weakens your immune system. Very much the WRONG time to have a weakened immune system, so no alcohol until I feel 100%.
I did message my wine shop to pick me out some bottles for curbside pickup tomorrow, so I'm prepared for when I'm well

What’s happening in Italy doesn’t make sense to me.
Not sure what to make of it, either. But I can't believe all of those people dying (500-600 a day now?) are all elderly. If the U.S. hits that number I wonder if people will still continue with the 'breh, it's the flu' nonsense.

the virus according to the same doctors telling us to quarantine and shut down for weeks only has a 2% fatality rate (as of this post that was the last I'd seen for the US), many of the cases are confined to certain areas.
It’s not staying localized. It’s spreading exponentially.

You're describing what for 90 percent of the population is a bad cold/fever that takes you out of work for 2-3 days yet we're tanking the economy?
That is not accurate at all. Up to 20% of the confirmed cases required hospitalization. Of the 80% that don’t need a hospital stay, some have no symptoms while some have severe flu like symptoms that last for 2 weeks. This is not about a bad cold/fever. How stupid are you people?

Meanwhile the fatality rate stays at one lower than the flu.
You are 100% wrong. This is just plain bullshite.

Are hospitals really reporting all this shite to one single website or is this all made up a fabricated by that one map website??
Hospitals are required by law to report all COVID-19 positive test results to CDC. I heard this mentioned yesterday at Trump's presser (they just put the law into effect).
I imagine it's the same with deaths.

If we test we have to reply pos or neg within 24 hours, but now test could take 7-10 days when it was originally 3-4

We get it and know it’s something. We also don’t want to be homeless and starving.

In all seriousness keep a journal
These are weird times and your grandkids will be interested in them one day. For the last several years I've wondered if there would ever be anything particularly interesting about our times beyond 9/11...
My wife found some writings from her family last year (around time great grandpa died in 1918 from spanish flu) - pretty interesting stuff

You've been reading this website since 2010 and still have to ask that question?

I’m convinced that red wine and beer help to fight this thing off. So as my free time has increased so has my drinking

South Korea seems to be fine
They were the most prepared nation on earth, they have been prepping for a NBC attack from the North for decades.
Their citizenry also follows guidance rather than going to party on the beach.

Yep. Half of me thinks we need to let this shite run its course, and the other half thinks of the suffering in Italy.
I know of several businesses that have already decided that they will be unable to reopen. I'm worried about the suicides. The people who will not be able to handle the loss of their life's savings/businesses.
So which is it? Hunker down to save lives? Or get back to life to save jobs?

da answer you seek lies in the thread "italy signs pack with the devil" by Phat Phil, moral of da story = expect to contract any one of many terrible diseases when one climbs in bed wit a nasty hoe...

No but I will be in my boat, a lot
Me and ol Kemosabe from the Outdoor Board will be fishing Big Lake next Thursday. I’ve only fish the west side of the state a few times but I know they hold some big specks over there. Looking forward to it.
It’s a completely different type of fishing compared to Grand Isle where we’ve had a camp since before I was born. I know here on the east side we have better quantity but Calc has much better quality. That winter 2 years ago where we were having 2 hard freezes a night for 3 consecutive weeks really hurt the speck population. Things should be much better this year.
