Went for a walk around the neighborhood this evening and it felt like I was in a 70s or 80s movie. Families were out all over the place. Kids were riding bikes, playing basketball and just enjoying the weather. I don’t think I have ever seen so many people outside.

I couldn’t legally drink as a child

I’m glad fanny packs made a triumphant comeback though

Just standing on my back porch everyone is outside in the hood. Damnit I should’ve put the pool in last year.

I went out to water my plants and count the ant beds and ants, and I noticed the same thing! It's beautiful to see a community be a community again. It's like something I vaguely remember from the late 80s and from movies in that time period. You are right about that.

It’s awesome! I love seeing so many neighbors doing home improvement projects, too.

Hopefully now that we realize that women are nonessential to our economy, they can stay home and be happy housewives again

Yes.

But the OP is correct. Our street as well. People outside with families, but also dying to talk to other people unlike ever before. We walked our dogs the other day and it felt like what a c-list celeb must feel like. Everybody wanted to say hi but nobody took a selfie.

I hope this brings back Trick-Or-Treating and Christmas caroling on a widespread level. I really think this year will be the year lots of people join me for nightly caroling in Mid-City. Please join!

I live in a village in Vermilion Parish, and our park is completely shut down and there is a 10-5 curfew for adults. Vermilion parish just got its first positive case so I’m not sure why they there’s a curfew.

I stepped outside, heard a few gunshots, and came back inside

Yep. If you want to know what it felt like to drive thru Baton Rouge during the late 80s, go check it out. It's like 1/5th the traffic.

Yup, and a deadly communicable disease with no cure is stalking us. Just like old times.

Spoke to my neighbors for first time in years. Hood is getting same feel as it did when I was a kid. Might get some folding lawn chairs and set out front tomorrow.
