Wife is due for a new car. Lease on her G37 ends in May. We will probably expand to three in the near future. We are looking at these two, though the Q5 could be considered. It seems the QX60 and Q7 are fairly similar except you lose about four inches of leg room in the second row of the Q7. I can only assume that could make a slight difference w/ a car seat.

for a woman's vehicle. i find the qx60 to have an excellent blend of convenience, economical, and still fairly affordable.

I'm sure it's a good car, but the QX60 looks too much like the Nissan Pathfinder Minivan to me. It also comes with a CVT which has no business in a car that price.

Get the Audi Q7 or Acura MDX. Maybe even the Volvo XC90 or Cadillac XT5.

Inifiti

ETA: Hmmmm, the picture for the Infiniti QX60 apparently is for the 2015 Pathfinder. Don't know why it has that. Same body maybe?

Audi

Both have good crash ratings, but the Audi has a safer child seat anchor.

Yeah. After playing with builds, we topped out around $52k on the QX60. The Q7 was closer to $57k I believe. Not much of a difference. I assume the easy transition from one Infiniti to the other would be a huge factor as well.

Had a friend return one after a month because they couldn't fit the car seat in it.

I do need to check out the MDX again. Forgot about those.

Probably. I'm almost certain they are under the same umbrella.

My wife got the 2017 qx60 a little over a month ago. The leg room is really nice. It beats the Tahoe we turned in. Second row is very roomy and space can be split with the 3rd row if needed. Although the 3rd row already has more room than our Tahoe did.

It had that minivan look to me at first, but now I see that in every crossover. I can't complain about it so far. I think we probably bought the same model you are looking at. Sticker was around 52 as well. Includes the birdseye view camera, the radar, 13 speaker bose system (which is actually pretty damned good), etc. Doesn't include theater and deluxe tech packages.

We didn't look at the Audi due to starting price, and to be honest, weren't looking to spend that much on the Infiniti. We were looking at the base model and comparing it to the MDX. MDX came with a lot of the sensors standard. Infiniti matched the sensor packages which came with all those other add-ons and did it at the price of the base MDX. Don't know how, as they had to lose money, but if you have a chance, get with Sewell infiniti in Houston.

Yeah, that's probably the same setup.

We have a really good relationship with Ray Brandt Infiniti here. My wife traded in her last infiniti plus they gave us a $4k loyalty credit; which basically covered the down payment. I'm gonna push for that again to avoid coming $4700 out of pocket. She's had an infiniti since she was 16. Our uber had a Q7 the other day and she really liked it.

I didn't drive the Q7 to compare. We had a VW TDI and although they made it right with the settlement, we just took a break from that brand (VW/Audi/Porsche.....if we could afford Porsche ). They do look really nice though.

The only 3 row luxury SUV's in the same price range are the MDX and the QX60 really. You may be close with an high end QX60 compared to a base Q7 or X5, but that's not comparing apples to apples. I will say, the MDX had nice seats, but otherwise, the interior did not make you think you were paying for a 45k+ vehicle. Very underwhelming. Also, they don't even come with spare tires!

Be sure of the Q7 you are looking at that price is not the 4 cyl. I can't believe they put a 2.0 T in that vehicle. Had a 14 Q7 TDI, did well for the 45k we had it. Be warned though, Q7's eat brakes. My wife was extremely easy on them and we got 40k. Have friends that wives are tough on them and they get like 20-25k at $1000-$1600 a set.

Whoa! Thanks for that little sidenote

I think the 3.0 is where it really jumps up. I think it starts around $63,000.

How is the cargo space behind the 3rd row between the MDX, QX60, and similar comparables? Will be in the market soon. Could you fit a stroller and maybe a small ice chest?

I have a QX80. Although I have never driven an Audi, I would imagine that the cost to maintain them would be much higher. One thing that surprised me was how cheap the insurance was when I upgraded to the infiniti.

Look out for the CVT (variable transmissions) on the Infiniti and Nissan vehicles. There is a class action lawsuit about it regarding the "juddering" issue at low speeds.
We almost got one and that scared us off. Infiniti seems like they refuse to fix the root cause. Beautiful vehicle otherwise.

I love this one. The interior on Cadillacs is top notch.

The new Q7 is amazing. It is the best "driving" SUV outside of the X5M or Porsche Cayenne. Car and Driver rated it the best dad SUV about 6 months ago. The QX is different league (comfortable cruiser) with a less modern interior.

Is this for all Nissans and Infinitis or the QX60? Our current infinity is fine…
