Anyone almost been hit by a car? (Within ~1-2' as a pedestrian)

Was about to cross through the cross walk today when a van probably going 40 in the Warehouse District intentionally ran a red light several seconds after it had already changed while the cars in the other 2 lanes had already had time to come to a complete stop. He even honked for me to get out of the way and didn't break at all. Thankfully he didn't swerve as I was able to pull myself back onto the sidewalk by about a foot before he passed. Had he tried to avoid me in the road he probably would have actually hit me. Drivers who run red lights are the absolute worst. Congratulations, you'll get somewhere maybe 30 seconds faster. It is consistently amazing how many people forget what power they're wielding when they drive a car. Imo the standard for driving one really should be higher.

Crazy thing about a near death experience like that - you will think back to that moment every now and then for the rest of your life and recall every detail.

Almost got hit by a bus on LSU's campus. It was early morning and I think sun glare made it difficult to see us.
I saw it coming and slowed my walk, also grabbed the backpack of the guy walking ahead of me. Bus blows by us 2' from our noses

I was hit on my bike as I tried to get out of the way. a-hole swerved toward me and clipped my back wheel, throwing me off. I was fine but the driver pulled over a little ways down the road, lady got out and started yelling at me. Parents called 911 and the cops arrested her.

During homecoming in H.S. some seniors tried to hit us in a drive by with shaving cream. The dude driving came within about a foot of me on my bike. Scared the ever loving shite out of me. Hated that guy the rest of H.S., but he ended up being a drug addict later in life so it all worked out

The truth:
I was driving a van in the Warehouse District today and some winehead jay-walked RIGHT in front of me.
I honked at his drunk arse but he still kinda meandered across the street.
Darwin will catch up to him soon.

18 Wheeler making a turn at high speed near Port Authority missed me by 5 feet on the corner crosswalk. Took out a van parked on the street corner and dragged it with him for 3/4 of a city block. Piece of the mirror being shattered hit me in the back of the head. 18 wheelers are the most dangerous vehicle on the road today- closely followed by older pickup trucks with exhaust packs and beater small subcompacts.

This. I got hit by a guy on my bike a couple of years back. I was in a bike lane and he turned right into me sending me over his hood. I could be dead and all the dumbass was saying over and over was "sorry didn't see you there, man"

Saw a good friend get hit by a car walking back home after an LSU game. He wasn't paying attention and just walked right into traffic on west parker. He got smoked and flew through the air, it was awesome

Got sideswipped by a car Mardi Gras my junior year of high school when i was crossing a side street. A second earlier and probably would've gotten hurt. Just had a dirt mark on the side of my jeans.

I got hit by a car when I was about 12. Or I should say I ran into a moving car. It was a rainy night and my mom was dropping me off at the old Arabi Show on St. Claude Ave. right inside the Parish line on a Friday night.
I got out her car and made a mad dash across Angela St. and a car had just turned the corner and I ran into the side of it hitting the front fender. The force bent me over and hit my head on the windshield, cracking it and it was one of those 50's model cars with the chrome pointy side door mirrors and it poked a hole in my right side and broke a couple ribs.
Spent the next couple hours at the hospital getting checked out and nothing but a headache and a couple broken ribs. The guy I ran into didn't care about the car and never asked for money for the windshield. He was just glad I wasn't killed I guess.

I almost got hit by a car when I was 9. Playing and ran out of the woods right into the road. The lady driving slammed on brakes and swerved and barely missed me. She cussed me out really well without using a curse word.
Two guys walking down side of old Hwy 90 in Biloxi before I-10 was built. One guys turns to stick out his thumb with hopes of catching a ride, but when he turns he makes the mistake of getting his right leg in the right of way. The car in front of me had no chance to dodge him. The car hit him in his upper right thigh and sent him on a somersault in the air. I won't forget the look of agony in the guys face when he landed flat on his back on the side of the road right in front of me. You could tell it snapped his femur.
